He is due 4 M bonus it seems , might be available in FA.
Could he be the cure for our backfield?
He's not going anywhere. Besides we need to see what we have in M Hamlin. Is Hodge going to be tried at safety or is he just a LB?
Hodge would probably be a nickel or dime LB...him and J Williams would be pretty formidable against the pass imo. Either way, he should have no impact on a FS signing since he would be playing strong.
please Jerry just draft a safety so we dont have to worry about one in FA, or moving players out of position as cowboy fans like to dream about
I don't think we really need him. We have a few young players, see what they can do.
Ok. I thought I remembered something about him and safety somewhere along the line but couldn't put his metrics to any safety job. He's 6-0 and 238lbs. Kinda big for a safety not to mention he's listed as a LB. But then I have my fair share of senior moments these days.
He came out as a SS.
TCU has a unique defense with three safeties, which Hodge played sort of a monster back which was just as much LB as it was safety imo. He is strictly a LB prospect with the Cowboys.
No, he came out as an OLB.
I don't think M Hamlin is established enough to prevent Jerry from getting a Free Safety if he decided that that was a position he wants to upgrade.
I would definitely consider Rolle.
"Pick Analysis: Hodge is a special teams ace. He played safety at TCU and he will be a backup on defense. Still, he helps Dallas in the kicking game and continues the trend of the team trying to fortify what was a weakness last year in special teams."
Please. Stop making yourself look stupid.
Not as senile as I was beginning to think. Yahoooo.
Players make position switches when they get to the pros if NFL teams don't judge them fit to continue there in the league. Either they are deemed to small, or too slow, whatever.
Brian Urlacher for example. SS at UNLV. LB in the pros
Michael Robinson. QB at PSU. WR in the NFL.
Woody Dantzler. QB at Clemson. WR and then S in the NFL.
Thomas Davis. S at Georgia. LB in the NFL.
Eh, I'd rather draft a playmaker.
He's a stop-gap, although a pretty damn good one.
I've always liked Rolle, more as a FS than a CB. If the Boys were to sign him they would really be able to concentrate on O Line in the Draft.
I made this same exact thread about a month ago.
I would love to have Rolle at FS on this team. The Cards play a 3-4 scheme and he stated at the probowl that the Cowboys were his favorite team growing up.
I think there's a high possibility he does get cut. And I think we would be strong frontrunners for him.
I'd feel really good if we added Rolle to this defense and could now spend a pick on a luxury player like McCluster, Jacoby Ford, etc. and still invest in a few young O Linemen.
There will be so much flexibility with what the Cowboys could do in the draft.
He's a good player. Why would he be cut? Do they have another alternative at safety?
