Per Adam Schefter.
Sources: Saints plan to hire former Cowboys assistant Rob Ryan as new defensive coordinator. (via @AdamSchefter)
What do you guys think? Good move or bad? The Saints also select a couple picks before us in the draft and need D-Line help badly. I bet they take the best DT/DE available. Could directly affect who we draft.
Good move IMO. I still think he's a good coach.
They're switching to the 34, it's a good fit.
And we all just KNOW the Saints will end up being top 5 in forced turnovers next season...
Agreed. Between signing Ryan and retaining Sean Payton, I'd say the Saints have had a pretty good off-season imo.
I think it's a great move. The pressure will be low with that high-octane offense.
Plus black is slimming.
Funny, I was wondering what all the Rob bashers would say if he happened to be hired there.
Guess Sean Payton is a moron now.
It could a good fit, the Saints are gonna put up points on offense.
I'd say he's a fat, pirate-looking spawn of the devil. Good riddance to bad Ryans.
Couple of things:
Saints play the Jets this fall
Peyton hired the son of Mr Bounty - Buddy Ryan
Longest five minutes ever.
I expect a corner or olb more than a dlineman. They have invested a few first rounders on dlineman recently.
But well spent
He will probably gamble more and blitz more with their offense leading or capable of scoring so many points
I can explain.
Rob was abducted by aliens on a faster-than-light trip the day he was fired.
According to Einstein, as you approach light-speed time moves much slower than on Earth.
So as Rob was traveling at warp for five minutes, five weeks passed by on Earth.
As Spock might say: "Fascinating"
Great move for Ryan because he doesn't have to have a great defense for the Saints to succeed, just a good one.
Good hire for the Saints. As long as we keep Matt Eberflus, I am good
I would have went with Romeo Crennel, but Ryan should be able to improve that defense. He's not a great coach, but he's a good one. Of course, I thought Spagnuolo was a pretty good defensive coach, too, and he crapped out in New Orleans. So Ryan might have more problems there than one would think.
