Guess so. I don't think that has ever happened before
Well, to be honest, the pro bowl is not really football...more like a flag football game.
Just like every NFL game will be pretty soon.
It seems to be going in that direction. When I'm done and taking a dirt nap, there is no telling what the NFL will be like. I'm just glad that I have a chance to see what it was like back when an what it's becoming now.
That would certainly inspire Romo to make the pro bowl.
Stupid! The NFL is trying to make sure that no one watches the game.
NFL Man: The Pro Bowl sucks! Everyone knows this!
NFL Man 2: We'll change the way it sucks! Maybe everyone will watch it for a year or two before they realize it.
NFL Man: Great idea! That's eight more quarterly bonuses for us!
Yeah, never mind the 32 guys who are actually calling the shots on the deal. Kill the messenger!!!!
Messengers don't get paid the salary that he makes.
They copied the NHL all star format.
The draft will be interesting. The game not so much.
What he makes is irrelevant. He works for the owners. They voted him into power and voted a contract extension for him. This aside from the salary he makes being a result of working in a multi-billion dollar industry and getting fat bonuses for delivering what was asked to him by the owners.
The owners sign off on every move. If Roger had any original idea he'd have to get it approved by the owners.
You don't really think a collection of 32 multi-million and billionaires would simply hand the keys to a $10B industry to any single individual without ownership and say, "have at it......she's all yours" do you? They probably wouldn't even vote one of their own into that sort of position.
You say they voted him into power.. yet you also say he has no power, because he's just a messenger. Which is it?
Its just funny how all of the owners all of a sudden wanted such a different product when Tagliabue left.
ITT people who hate the pro bowl criticize Goodell for ruining it.
People will watch the draft, at least for a while.
NFL has already won with this move. It's smart.
Still won't be turning on the TV ProBowl Sunday. I don't give two figs for the Probowl.
This is actually a pretty fun idea I like it to be honest. It will be interesting how the players react to it, especially if there is a fair amount of smack talk going back and forth. Everyone always wants to see how fantasy football would be in real life, well now you get your chance to actually play fantasy football with real NFL players.
Just do more skills competition stuff. Those were always by FAR the best parts of the Pro Bowl. You could have the conferences compete as teams using point values for each event. And not all the events have to be football related.
I don't give two craps about the game itself.
The best and only way IMO to have a competetive pro bowl is to have the teams announced like they do already and a week later all the writers vote for the pro bowl snubs. Then you have one pro bowl team vs the snubs.
Or, you do the nfl pro bowl team vs the rookie all star team. That would be contested.
Nowhere in my one sentence post did I claim that Goodell did this completely on his own, independent of any owner input. Nor did I say anything about his intelligence.
All I said was that 1) this is going to be a ridiculous "game" and 2) Goodell will tell us later what a great success it was.
Fans aren't drafting, so we aren't really getting to participate at all.
