Im curious what you guys think about that. Anyone actually?
"Hell of a football player," an NFL scout told Bob McGinn of The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. "He may be the smartest guy in this whole draft. Oh, my God, he's a genius on the board. Genius. We put him on the board and he blew it away. Great kid."
Yes, but he won't be there at 45. He's a late 1st round pick.
Now do we trade down from 14 and take him? That's a good possibility.
It doesn't take Hos/Sdogo to let you know that Konz will go higher than that. He'll grade out late round one like most great centers do.
They would jump all on that if he was there at 45 but don't see that happening.
Konz could be a target in a trade down though.
To get him (and I would love it) we'd have to trade down in the 1st round, because he will not make it to 45. If he does and we pass on him I will need bail money and a good lawyer. Jerry will need the Jaws of Life to remove my foot.
Yes, if he is there in the 2nd he would be a consideration. I don't agree with everyone saying he is a lock in the 1st, it's just not the case. He is not getting solid 1st round grades anywhere and you never know who will fall or how the draft will unfold.
He will be our second 1st rounder
1. 14 | Mark Barron
1. 27 | Peter Konz
I don't think NE will have that pick, it might be the year they use some of this ammo to get up in the draft.
Konz seems like a fall... He is weak and center is not a priority position. Plus he has a medical condition
Heard a lot of bad buzz about him recently.
In fact, I don't want him. Hope he goes before 45. Would much rather have Blake. I can bench more than Konz
center isn't a priority position?
I don't believe in any way that the Cowboys medical staff is going to pass him. The Cowboys have never shown to take this kind of a medical risk. This isn't a knee on the mend situation.
Not to change subjects or anything but when are you (sdogo) doing your final mock draft. I could had missed it but was curious if you had already or when you where doing it?
“I’ve just never been that good at the bench," Konz said. "I’m not going to lie and say it was a ‘bad day’ or anything. It wasn’t a bad day. Once I really trained for it harder and Brian put me through some heavier reps – I got 17 on 250 pounds — I knew I could come in here and improve. That’s what I really wanted to show them. I didn’t care if I got 20 or 19. As long as I could tell them I beat my own score, when I tell you I’m going to work on something I really am.”
Oh and Costa put up 30 reps @ 225, yet got manhandled on a consistent basis.
Because short arms will help you on the bench press but not on a football field.
Defenders get their hands on Costa first. Game over. And that isn't ever changing.
Gotta love those T-Rex Arms
I think he would be a center for a decade for us. He seems like such a smart, well balanced OL. IMO.I also think Center is a HUGE need for us. I know I am in the minority with that line of thought.
