Don’t expect the Steelers to trade up from the 15th overall pick in the NFL draft.

Steelers General Manager Kevin Colbert said today at the league meeting that with the available talent in this draft, trading down makes a lot more sense than trading up. Unfortunately for Colbert, he thinks the rest of the league feels the same way, which means that teams looking to pick up extra picks by trading down won’t find many takers.

“It makes more sense in this draft than trading up,” Colbert said of trading down, via Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. “I’m sure everyone shares the same thought.”

All it takes is one team to fall in love with a player, however, for the possibility of trading up to materialize.

I am sure Jerry will find a way to trade up and grab someone that was going to be there at our pick anyway.

Makes sense. I could still see a lot of movement in the top 10 though. Clowney, Watkins, Robinson, etc. some team who thinks they are one player away will pony up for them.

If there is high demand to move down, maybe moving up will be cheaper.

It all depends on who falls in the top 15 picks. Key guys to fall are Mike Evans, Lewan, Carr, and Bridgewater IMO. If they fall you could see some jockeying around where the Cowboys pick

Honestly- I've heard this rhetoric the past few years in a row from various GM's.
    We'll see...

Yeah. I had added a ....if true to my post then deleted it so as it be good. It says the draft is deep and there aren't that many separable guys at the top. I don't have a problem with that. But I don't take who is drafted where and when too seriously.

Eric Ebron will be that Wr/TE hybrid that Jerry drafts. He's already being compared to Jimmy Graham.

If Evans is available when we pick I can see a team like Carolina or SF coming up

I know many heads will explode if that happens...
Mine won't. I may not be ecstatic, but Ebron is a special talent who will help the team.
BPA baby, TCB... Don't make me use my moves on you.

He may make it to 16, I'm interested in if Clowney gets past Cleveland at 4 if we could pony up a small deal like the Dolphins did last year with Oakland to get him.

Sounds like some good news if there's a player you absolutely must have

It sounds like this is one of those drafts where there will be starters available in the 3rd and 4th rounds, which is good for us given our cap needs
