    Jerry, Jerry, and more Jerry.

    Way too much Jerry in the newspaper, and, yes, I admit that, but while apologizing for my Jerry overkill, when things are going pretty good at Valley Ranch, or in the current state of rot-gut bad, these are the Dallas Jerry-boys, gag yourself or not, loathe it or not.

    There is no escape from Jerry.


    The Cowboys were so long-ago yesterday.

    "Cowboys" was the name back when the franchise stood for something.
    Tom, Tex, Jimmy, Roger, Troy, Emmitt.

    Not even, however, any of those famous guys had the same full-frontal impact on the franchise as, yes, Jerry.

    Coach Landry controlled all things football, but Tex handled all else.
    Coach Johnson actually served Jerry in a dual role of contract negotiator with players. For about five minutes, he did.
