I think Max Unger situation actually played significant part in Jerry motivation for selecting Frederick. For better or worse, Jerry is an emotional guy who makes decisions with his heart rather than analytics that are currently sweeping sports decision makers.

I agree. Losing Unger like we did I bet stuck with Jerruh. He really hates to lose on things like that.

It goes beyond losing on that Unger situation.

The team was desperate for O-line help. Then watch 7 lineman go before your pick, and leave 1 guy left who you felt could be a plug and play. Its a recipe for exactly what happened. As much as some moaned about deviating from the board, or reaching a bit for Frederick, I think it would have been worse had we simply drafted Floyd.

Were there lineman left after Frederick? Sure, but it was a combination left of guys apparently we weren't enamored with and in some cases picked in akward spots vs where our picks were.

But of course it all comes down to how Frederick performs.
