Means Free will probably have a short leash this week.

Everyone loves the backup though and if Parnell gets 60-80 snaps, people may be screaming to put Free back in.

    Garrett talks Parnell

“We’ve tried to use him a lot in the three tight-end situations all year long,” coach Jason Garrett said Thursday at his press conference at Valley Ranch. “That might not sound very significant, but it’s really significant for a guy who hasn’t played very much to go out there in those critical situations. And to be honest with you, early on in the year, he didn’t handle it very well. But we felt it was important to persist with that, keep giving him chances. He’s gotten better and better just in handling the situation, the snap count, his assignments, their adjustments. He improved, and I think it helped him when he played when Tyron was out.”

But left tackle appears to be manned with Smith. Right tackle might open up if the Cowboys decide to move on from Doug Free.

“We’re always looking for opportunities to play him,” Garrett said of Parnell. “He does get work in practice, and we’ll talk about that right tackle spot.”

I haven't been impressed with him. For the few plays he's been in on, he has a number of penalties and has whiffed on defenders as well.

Maybe it lights a fire under Free. Either way, I look at OTs in the draft.

This has needed to happen for a couple weeks. I think they will both struggle this week. They both seem like left tackles to me. I like Parnell and want to see more of him though.

This is the wrong week to run him out there though.

Bryan and Mickey said on talking cowboys this morning that sterling Moore is working at corner and Ratliff won't play this week again.

i doubt they would still bench free. Free has been getting abused. Last week most have been one of his worst of many games this year. Everytime I looked he was getting pushed into romo or his man has beat him.

corner:bang2: I was hoping he could somehow take McCray spot at safety.:bang2: Can't cover or tackle. As a safety you have to be able to do atleast one of them. The great ones can do both.

    Not for me.

That's at the top of my list of bad contracts needing to go.

What? Making an emotional knee jerk reaction in the moment concerning the personna non grata du jour without fully researching details and the ramifications?

Well, that's not the stasheroo I know.

Actually, I've been against it since last year.

And while I will admit to not knowing the full salary cap implications, unless it costs more to cut Ratliff than to keep him, I'm getting this deal off of the books.

He's an aging, undersized nose tackle who is not earning what he's being paid.

Father Time and the salary cap are converging to create an unacceptable situation.
