The officiating was putrid.

I thought this was one of the most poorly officiated games I have ever seen. I don't think the officials were favoring one team over the other, although the offcials all but singlehandedly scored the FG for Washington by calling two back-to-back personal fouls on Dallas that were clean hits - which is what even got them into FG range. But the all time worst call was that holding penalty on washington that the officials later overturned, where Washibngton was called for hoding but the ref said it shouldn't be holding beciase the held player WORKED THROUGH THE HOLD????? What the CRAP was that call??? That was baltent hoding, but it doesn't count because the Redskin svcks so bad that he can't illegally hold well enough???

Will Gibbs be writing the league office about that one? :lmao2:

The late hit was a good call, but that roughing the passer call on Ware had me FUMING. Seriously, the NFL should just have the QBs play in tutus with the way they have been calling roughing the passer this season.

I did chuckle at that call. No holding because Greg ran through it so the result was a first down Redskins on Aaron's illegal contact on some Redskin receiver.

I had less problem with the hit on Brunell's head than I did on the late hit because the Redskin looked like he was still active when Ayodele nailed him (or I should say went into the act of nailing him).

I was hoping that Skins receiver would have run through Glenn's hold, negating that penalty, too.

Glenn is just too damn good at holding. :D

He was active. The Redskin was not down, nor had any official blown a whistle. So then how can an offical call a late hit when the play is still live and the hit they're flagging is the one that downed the receiver? What?!? Did we hit the redskins too hard? Is that what Gibbs has bewen whining to the leagie offce about?

I thought the Ayodele penalty was crap after I saw the replay but I have to admit when I first saw it in real time on the original shot I thought it was a late hit too. So I can forgive the ref's mistake (it's easier to forgive since we won anyway).

I'm usually as hard on the ref's as anyone but tonight I couldn't really complain. It was a pretty sloppy game on both sides and they were calling stuff on both teams so it evened out. The ref's were just calling the game really tight tonight for some reason.

I disagree. I think both teams were putrid (at the beginning anyway).

The only bad call I can think of is the tripping call on Columbo.

Edit: Oh and the Ayodele call was crap too.

Agreed on that. Usually the worst officiated games are when the teams are playing sloppy.

That was a first. I've never heard of a holding call being overturned because the player being held "worked through" the hold. I sat there completely dumbfounded after that one.
It's hard to really criticize the officials. It appears that they got most of the penalties that should have been called correct. However, sometimes I wish that they'd just let them play. Of course, when you know that Skeletor is going to complain about you to the media if something doesn't go his way, it might make you call a tighter game.

Some of the calls were ticky tack..but the refs were consistent and called em both ways....that's about all you can ask.

They've been calling the tick tack personal fouls a lot more this year, so I guess we'll have to get used to it.

Oh, that one just blew my mind. I was sitting there thinking how many holds I've seen called when the defender got the sack anyway...they declined them but they were called at least. If the guy hadn't held you never know what might have happened. Ellis might have gotten the sack and ended the play before anything happened downfield. That should have been offsetting penalties and was a big screwup on the ref's part.

Also, on Ware's personal foul; wasn't that a fumble? Brunell never released the ball, it looked like a pump fake to me.

To me the refs just nit picked waaaay too much on both sides.

Obviously, as a Cowboys fan, I can count more Cowboys examples here -- the Colombo trip, the Ayodele late hit, the Ware late hit. But I'm sure the Redskins can name their fair share, too -- of course, the Flozell no-call was one of the few that wasn't called.

All in all, I just wish they wouldn't have called so much on both sides. Took away from the feel of the game.
