There have been rumblings out there for a few months that former GOP Congressman Bob Barr may run for President as a third party (Libertarian?) candidate. I'm hearing now that this may be more than just rumor. Barr left the GOP awhile ago and officially turned Libertarian. He follows much of the anti-war stance of Ron Paul. Opposes the PATRIOT Act. And otherwise is a pretty "down the line" conservative on most social and economic policies (as is Paul). For him to have any shot, he'd need to quickly organize and manage to win the Libertarian nomination (their convention is in late May, I believe). If he succeeded in doing that, and managed to get the endorsement of Paul and tap into his minions, he could make some noise in November. Not a ton, mind you, but he could cause some trouble, that's for sure. Anyway, thought I'd throw that out there for those who are looking for an alternative to the two big parties.
