Nah, that was just my early senility. I should have equated one last name with another. I just got confused. But I learned a lot looking most of it up. :)

Jimmy guaranteed a victory and said put it in 3 inch headlines.

Seifert said Jimmy had balls either brass or paper; we'll see.

I guess Jimmy was right. I never checked though.

Banks was drafted by the Rams and Reilly was the QB coach there.

QBs Carter, Leaf and Stoerner (yuck)

That year and the following two were the low points for the Cowboys IMO and cause of much angst for me as well as a bit of anger towards Jerry; just to leave a personal note.

    (2) The original opening credits for "Dallas" had a connection with the Cowboys -- what was it?

One record was an interception in three straight post-season games. I'm guessing on the other one - two fumble recoveries in one post-season game? (The Super Bowl against the Broncos).

He was a tough luck story - could have had a much better career with the team but had a series of shoulder dislocations. I hadn't realized this until going to his Wikipedia page: one of his dislocations in 1980 let Dennis Thurman onto the field to take his starting job. Another dislocation the next preseason let Michael Downs take his starting job and led to Hughes retiring.

Correct: Hughes and Jimmie Jones have the most opponent fumble recoveries in a Super Bowl (2). Three other Cowboys have two fumble recoveries in playoff games that are not Super Bowls.

Trivia: Del Rio and another head coach convinced the NFL to change a sideline policy (albeit only temporarily) -- what was the policy, who was the other coach, and what was the other coach's (indirect) relationship to the Cowboys?
