Great post. This isn't about failing this year. This is a 17 year stretch of futility the team has never seen before in it's history and it's all because the owner plays fantasy football to appease his own ego.

One has to wonder what goes on in Jerry head.

Robert Kraft gets tons of credit for the Patriots success. And he's miles away from the day-to-day operations of the team. He just goes around to various charity events and watches games in his private suite. He even gives away his rings to the occasional Russian dicatator.

You'd think Jerry would see this and decide that maybe he should give this formula a try?

Well Jerry has known Bob Kraft for decades & has seen his type of ownership & knows it works in today's NFL. Kraft still gets his publicity. They show him every single game.

Jerry has to be THE face of his team. It's his toy like so many say.

People are talking about the Cowboys, that's all that matters. The TMQ guy's (who I cant stand) lead to his article on ESPN is about how terrible the team is. That's all that really matters from Jed Clampett's perspective. "Hey, we stink, but people are talking about us..."

I've been following this team for 35 years, this year I didnt watch 2 games at all. I've stopped recording them, hey one viewing is enough. At some point Jerry will make me completely disinterested. There is no hope with him and his family running every facet of the franchise.

He loves lots of things more than he loves winning. He loves being the GM more than he loves winning. He loves giving out that big contract to a player more than he loves winning. He loves the big trade or the big draft day "get" more than he loves winning.

If you told him he could win a superbowl but he couldn't be GM, was only going to give out very stingy penny-pinching contracts, and would slowly build a team with 2nd and 3rd round picks for years he would tell you thanks but no thanks.

He's gotten to the point where he's accepted he'd rather be 8-8 doing the things he likes to do than be better and not have all that fun.

Jerry should be angry. In fact, I think he should punch his GM in the face. Repeatedly.

He's the owner. He has to talk. He's got a radio show. If he didnt, people would think he's hiding. The words that come out of his mouth in an interview with the media, as annoying as they may be to you, don't effect the product on the field. And we got bigger issues.

If they told Jason Witten and DeMarcus Ware that if they left dallas would win the Super Bowl...do you think they'd say alright and just walk away?

What is the point of winning if you aren't a part of it. Jerruh is not a fan, and doesn't want to be.

People try to compare themselves to him and say, if I were owner, I'd fire myself and blah blah blah. But in reality, I wonder how many actually would.

No he doesn't. THere are dozens of other owners who shut up and let others do the talking.

Fine. Let him hide then. Who cares what people think. Most would be thankful. Just focus on doing what owner typically do. As for the radio show: he can stop that at anytime .

Actually, an argument can be made that Jerry constant marketing of the team through his mouth, combined with his GM responsibilities, is detrimental to the team and the product on the field.
I think Jerry Jones and his role with this franchise is THE biggest issue facing the Cowboys now and in the future.

If I hear that "Jerry wants to win more than anyone here" again, I may puke. This dolt had a formula for winning. He had a formula that built a dynasty which he almost single handedly destroyed in a few short years after his HC/personnel guru left. If Jerry wanted to win (or at least increase his odds of winning), he could go back and try to recreate the formula and personnel structure that got him those 3 Superbowls. The fact that he completely refuses to do that tells me more about where Jerry's head and ego is at.

In his intense desire to get credit and respect he's only accomplished being a laughing stock. You're right, if he just concentrated on being a great Owner all that desired credit would come. He's his own worst enemy.

I've been saying it for years. The man has mental issues.

I just think that whining about what Jerry says to the media is futile bc he's gonna be here for a long time. And we can't change it so rather than dwelling on that fact, I'd like to focus on the things that will change and need to change.

So basically, let's sugar coat everything, talk about things which will not effect the franchise ... and pretend that we've accomplished something.

This is a chat board. We are fed up. We can make a million changes (and we have), and they would avail to NOTHING !!!

The one single change needs to start at the top ...

The only way to hurt Jerry is hit him in the wallet.

As long as the stadium is sold out & the team is valued as highly as it is nothing will change.

He's a little Napolean. The emperor not the dessert.

Because Garrett is like the teacher's pet. He will never say anything bad about him and he does not want to fire him at all.

The owner is not goin to fire himself. So why whine about it? Like you said, it won't change the franchise.

You say Replacing the head coach and some players wouldn't change the franchise? That's some whack logic. It most certainly would, for the better.

You say we need ONE single change? So you believe if Jerry wasn't the owner we have a Super Bowl caliber team/roster? That's ridiculous. A good nickname for this team is Swiss cheese. Full of holes.

Whining about Jerry is futile. He's here to stay whether we like it or not. I'd rather focus on getting real coach and our next qb1 in here.
