Utah head coach Kyle Whittingham said redshirt senior LB Trevor Reilly "is a lot like" former Utes linebackers currently in the NFL.
"That is what suits him best and that is how we have used him in that capacity," Whittingham said Tuesday on the Pac-12 teleconference. "We've had several guys here, Koa Misi and Paul Kruger, that have done that same thing for us and are flourishing in the NFL. He is a lot like those guys and I think that would probably be, in my estimation, a great situation for him." Reilly, ranked 10th on Gil Brandt's list of the nation's top 100 seniors, has collected 86 tackles, 15 TFL and 8.5 sacks this season. Nov 27 - 8:14 PM

The new CBA has resulted in the need to get contributions from draft picks during their original rookie contracts. It is the primary method to manage the salary cap. Once players reach the end of their rookie deal (usually 4 years), they're generally not any cheaper than an equivalent free agent.

If being older results in a draft pick contributing earlier in his career, then it can be an advantage.
