Aikman may not be qualified, but he can't do any worse.

He has already said that this team has no identity, no direction. The Cowboys don't know who they are.

So he's already ahead of Jerry, who doesn't recognize any of this.

I'm not a jg fan and I'm pretty sure you aren't either but this sounds a lot like when the jg fan club try to convince me that jgs lack of coaching exp really isn't a big deal cause of the other things he supposely brings to the table.

Let me clarify how my statement was written--not just any former player could be successful. There may be some, but being a player doesn't mean you could do it.

Now that's something I can agree with. I doubt Vince Young would make a very good GM.

There is no guarantee that Aikman would be a successful GM. But at this point I would be in favor of giving it a try as opposed to the status quo. Aikman's a smart guy. I think he would do well.

It's not Troy that I'd be interested in taking over as GM, it's anyone, because that would symbolize a change in the mindset. I don't care who it is - I'll take anyone over Jerry, because then at least Jerry is changing his ways.

Odds would be extremely slim for most former players, I agree.

I think your numbers are way inflated. You know, 2 turns to 3, 3 turns to 4, 4 to 5.. etc. Aikman's rumored net worth is around $25 million. He would be worth $100 million by now if he were paid $10 million a year. I would venture to say he's paid between 1 and 3 million a year, max.

I would take a drunken, dementia riddled crazy man over Jerruh.

Matt millen was a player turned broadcaster turned gm that worked out great. Elway had a good draft in 2011. 2012 and 13 we will see. Let's be real though. He took over the team in 2011 and they won a playoff game with tebow and a team that elway had nothing to do with except miller. He basically signed manning. So let's not act like he's a great football mine.

The point is Troy Aikman or whom ever will never be hired as the new GM, would likely have a Pro Football philosophy.
