Uh Oh, White House Seeks Economic Advice From Twitter

Twitter cofounder and CEO Ev Williams is headed to the White House today.

The administration invited him to join a “young business leaders" summit to discuss the economic crises.

As Ev himself puts it -- in a Twitter message, of course -- "[this] must mean they're *really* out of ideas."

A reminder: With 6 million members and 700% plus growth, Twitter makes no money in the US. (It sells some ads in Japan).

What is misleading? Obama has asked the founder of twitter to come give him financial advice.

That wasn't misleading. It is exactly correct.

What do you find a problem with?

Ah, good old JBond, disingenuous as ever. Getting invited to a single meeting as one of a large number of "young business leaders" does not in any way, shape or form make one an "official economic advisor" to the president.

The question really should be, why is the President of the United States doing this to begin with? If Twitter is not qualified, if he is not directly related to the issue, if he does not have value to offer in solving the problem, why is this happening?

but he's not going to twitter to get advice now is he?

you could say he goes to notepad to get advice too if he goes to talk to bill gates about business, right?

You are correct. Just the founder and President of Twitter has been invited to advise Obama on economic policy.

You don't talk to michael moore about accurate documentaries.
You don't talk to Jeffrey Dahmer about how to behave.
You don't talk to Madof about ethical investments.
Not hard to figure it out....

    you left off:

you don't talk to burm when you want rational thought...

did the twitter dude not pay his taxes?
did he rape goats when he was 3?
does he drive a chevy when no one is looking?

twitter is just an example of todays economy in action. if you know about it, the guy must have worked hard to get it that far, right?

    so what's wrong with twitter?

Twitter has yet to make a profit in the US. What in the world does Obama need to learn from the Twitter founder? He already has Goggle in his back pocket. Paid for in full. How many unprofitable businesses owners do you want Obama to rely on?
