Former Central Florida DE Toby Jackson will reportedly enter the Supplemental Draft.
Jackson missed the 2012 season due to academic reasons but appeared in nine games, including two starts, in 2011 after transferring from the JUCO level. In those contests he recorded three tackles for loss and one blocked punt. The Supplemental Draft is scheduled for July 11. Jul 2 - 1:33 PM

Former NFL scout John Middlekauff reports UNLV senior DE James Boyd is entering the Supplemental Draft.
Boyd started his career at USC and spent time at quarterback, tight end, and defensive end. He redshirted the 2009 season after suffering a knee sprain. After appearing in two games in 2010, Boyd dropped down to the JUCO level and practiced at quarterback and defensive end once joining the Rebels. He focused on defense after the school's spring game. The Supplemental Draft is scheduled for July 11. Jul 3 - 10:52 AM

Keep an eye on former Miami (OH) wide receiver Nick Harwell. Harwell was dismissed from Miami this spring after being arrested for theft and criminal damaging. Harwell attempted to transfer to Kansas to play out his final season of eligibility but Miami blocked his attempt due to his suspension from school.

Harwell has sought out legal counsel on the matter but the clock is ticking with the supplemental draft less than two weeks away. Harwell was a highly productive receiver at Miami of Ohio that experienced a disappointing junior season on and off the field.

Typically, the supplemental draft is used for prospects who have left their college programs due to academic or personal issues. Meet Toby Jackson, Damond Smith, and James Boyd here.

    Toby Jackson, DE, UCF
Central Florida's site () lists the defensive-end at 6'5” and 257 pounds. Jackson's story is an interesting one. A four-star prospect coming out of high school, including a top ten defensive-end, Jackson spent his 2008 season with Hargrove Military Academy, a prep school. In 2010 he signed to Navarro College. He only spent one season with Navarro, earning a Junior College National Championship MVP on the way (against Butler, headed by now LSU Tiger Zach Mettenberger.) Again, a four-star recruit, he chose Central Florida over the likes of SEC teams, such as Alabama, Georgia, and Tennessee. In 2011, he played nine games for UCF, but only started two. In 2012, he was forced to sit out due to academics. Now, with all of Jackson's academic problems (having to go to prep school, then JuCo after prep school, then losing a year to academics), that's usually a tell-tale sign of either a lack of effort in the classroom or a learning problem, neither of which are good on the defensive side of the ball. Jackson did have a rebuttal to those remarks in a February interview though:

I lost my cousin and grandfather within a three month span and that caused me to lose focus in school which ultimately led my dismissal from the UCF football team. Since then I’ve been grinding to get myself in tip top shape and pursuing my long life dream of becoming an NFL football player.

    Damond Smith CB South Alabama
There was a little misunderstanding on Smith's eligibility going into the 2013 NFL Draft cycle. He worked out at Jacksonville State's pro day (measuring over 5'11” and running a 4.4), and the Packers even tried to sign him as a UDFA. All reports show Damond Smith has some sleeper talent, but that he's got some character concerns. Smith started six of the seven games at Western Michigan as a freshman. His sophomore year he started none. After a fight with a teammate, he transferred to South Alabama.

    James Boyd DE UNLV
The only report of Boyd declaring in the Supplemental Draft is from John Middlekauff, a former Philadelphia Eagles scout. Listed as a defensive-end, Boyd has seen time at quarterback and tight end, also. As a high school All-American, he had 106 tackles, 8 sacks, 4,266 passing yards, and 44 touchdown passes as a two-way player. He enrolled at USC, and as a freshman he redshirted as a tight end. The next year, he was switched to defensive-end for the Trojans, but he only played in two games. He enrolled at West Los Angeles City College in the fall of 2011, but dropped out before the term ended. In 2012, he transferred to UNLV as a quarterback. After spending most of spring receiving snaps from under-center, he was switched to defensive-end for the spring game. He started one game in his single season at UNLV. UNLV's site listed him at 6'5” and 255 pounds .
