That is freaking AWESOME. Way cool. How does it look like Earth's atmosphere though? Kind of just looks like a desert somewhere.

Gotta say. I am blown away by that image, but even more blown away that so many people here seem to comprehend how freaking awesome that image is!

EDIT: To those that don't realize. You can ZOOM in and out of that image! :)

One one hand it's amazing.....on the other, mars is the most boring place I've ever seen :/ It's like someone at work showing you their photos of their vacation to the desert....."Here's a rock....and here's another rock!"

I'm awaiting a similar landing on Saturn's moon, Titan. That should provide some interesting pictures with its mountain ranges and methane oceans.

Could be.....we're 0/2 so far (moon, mars). Hopefully we'll see something beautiful from another planet in our lifetime. I'm not saying Avatar crazy but something "new". It could be Earth has pretty much all of the other landscapes that exist in the universe.

They say in about 6 billion years from now, life may be possible on Titan due to the rising surface temperatures from the red giant (our sun) :)
