Let's get really REAL Inescapable Reality #1 There are 32 teams in the NFL. So do the math! If you want to be a fan, then get this it into your head: At the bitter end of the season you are going to feel your heart crushed 31 times before that one glorious year where you find exhiliration. Those are your odds. So if you want to play as NFL fan....put your heart into it with that risk. The average fan...if he doesn't get jipped...will taste a Super Bowl win two times in his life. Inescapable Reality #2 If somehow you think you are special or that the Cowboys are special...get over it. Every fan feels that way. It's called Entitlement...and it's a form of immaturity. Pre-salary cap...yes we had the same advantage the Yankees enjoy today: We could out-spend the competition. But now the league is doing everything it can to insure parity, not tear it down for your benefit. And let's get clear: perfect parity would mean 32 different Super Bowl winners every 32 years. Inescapable Reality #3 If you think that "The Cowboys went 7-9 because they weren't trying very hard and this is the year we should step it up..." you are just being ignorant. Aside from occasional numbskulls, most players are laying it all out most of the time. All of it. Inescapable Reality #4 If you think that "The Cowboys haven't won in 20 years…so you are entitled…The world "owes me one." Forget about it. The odds reset each year: it's 1 in 32 again this year. I can't be particularly upset merely because the Cowboys haven't won a Super Bowl in nearly 20 years. The basis of my complaint or critical spirit is not that we haven't won a Super Bowl in that span…I get it – the odds are always stacked against that. My issue is the manner in which this franchise has operated: haphazard, impulsive, careless.
