Anyone that didn't put Tony Romo at the top of their list does not understand his value to the this team. My list is probably the most accurate.

I love Dan Bailey. Yet, the fact that a kicker can be put in the top 5 of your team says a lot about the state of our football team. Let's hope for a good draft. My five favs are

The next 5 or so I see a lot of talent that either is having health issues or age issues. Hell, who knows, Romo might join it after next season. I certainly hope not.

Pretty much this. Except I think an argument could be made that LP Ladouceur should be #1. He's been with the Cowboys for almost 10 years, has played in 131 consecutive games, and has a 100% perfect snap rating.

Orlando Scandrick also gets overlooked. The progress that he's made over time is remarkable. A lot of it came with the addition of Coach Jerome Henderson, though. The proof is in the film...I'm not sure how Dave Campo even still had a job in this league.

Agreed on #1 but with you forget about other player = Bailey. He has played a BIG part in that as well. Folk for a while too!

He is often overlooked. He's a very good slot corner which is a very hard position to play.

I wonder how many meetings Campo sat in where he praised Alan Ball or if he was stuck with him but if he was he shoulda threatened to walk off.

If you take position into account then Dez drops a bit -- 1000 yard receivers are a dime a dozen in the NFL these days. Even with a great WR like Dez -- the net difference between great WRs and "good" WRs really just seem to make much a difference anymore.

    Romo most valuable? Absolutely

But he didn't ask that; he asked who were the current 5 best players.
So at least for me, it's easy to see how some would not list him number 1.

I put Romo at the top of my list, so I'm not going to disagree with you. I did consider disagreeing with your conclusion that your list is the most accurate, but you have a gun. So you go right ahead and say whatever the heck you want.

I might agree with Frederick after another year or so, but right now Witten is still a better "football player." His knowledge of the game gives him the edge even with his unathletic body slowing down.

I do expect Frederick, based on his intelligence, to become a Witten as far as technique and understanding of the game go, essentially overcoming any shortcomings athletically with his knowledge of how to play.

Otherwise, I think I agree with the order you put them in. Smith and Dez are just superior athletes whose understanding of how to play their positions in the pros is now matching their natural ability. The sky's the limit with them.

Romo has a great feel for pressure, and how to get away from it, keep his eyes downfield and deliver the ball. He doesn't have prototypical size or a cannon for an arm, but he knows how to use what he's got.

Lee's one of those students of the game. He's not the biggest or fastest, but just knows what it takes to get to where he needs to be and find the ball.
