Who could be viewed as a possible replacement for Spencer starting in 2013?

Obviously guys like Upshaw, Ingram, McClellin are gone.

    Who's left?

I would think it would need to be someone no less than 260lbs and who has shown some pass-rush skills.

You know, I have been thinking about that as well.

Irvin is not 260, but he is about 6' 3", and he's got the frame to put on a quality 15 lbs or so, imo. He weighs about 245 lbs right now.

Plus, he would have a year to put on that weight, as in his rookie year he could focus on just rushing the passer.

I don't know know about the 260 lb. part. Spencer more than likely is going to remain the starter despite who we take at OLB. If we take an OLB early, the draftee will likely be a situational guy who contributes primarily as a pass rusher.

So a guy like Irvin, who's light in the butt, can still see the field despite being 245.

It seems like there's a good amount of late first/early 2nd round OLB prospects, so it's gonna be interesting to see who's still around at #45.

Spencer signing his tender absolutely in no way means we won't go after a pass rusher in round one or two.

You're right, there is a possibility but for this exercise I'm thinking they won't.

    I think they'll focus on:

    DL
    OL
    Safety
    Corner

    for the first two rounds.

Funny, when I drafted McClellin in like the 3rd or 4th round in that Mel Kiper thing, everyone graded my draft as a reach.

Ourlads has him in that vicinity too, but you see the lastest drafts with McClellin on the edge of round 1.

Mike, file this guy away as just a nice late round roll of the dice. A marginal athlete but highly productive and versatile player.

I was thinking Olivier Vernon. Of course we don't know if he's still on the Cowboy's board.
