    This really surprised me.

Surely Jarv, Dooms et al can come up with a post about their man in Washington's speech to our entire country...(or at least those who didn't avoid it at all costs).

What did you do with all your Bush paraphernalia?

Just how bad did it hurt when you realized he really didn't love you?

unless you're referring to pornography, i have no "bush" anything at all.

but like i said, you put people where you need them to fit your own views because you can't accept them for who they are it would seem.

with your infatuation for hillary i'd have to think even she would put a restraining order on you.

Even when I liked W I couldn't bear to listen to him speak.

    Now it's even worse.

    What Presidential address???

There's something about the Pomp and Circumstance that rubs me wrong with these things.

The introductions and ovations are unnecessary, the applause after every proclaimation, etc. Given how a large portion of our population are disillusioned about our country and it's President, I think they should rather address this issue and behave appropriately. Not clap like everything is just fine.

I have no problem affording this country's President all due respect, but the whole thing is just disingenuous.

I of course heard Hillary's retort to him and tried to read the foxnews review but had to stop to go regurgitate ... but seriously I was curious how it played.

I really have no respect for the man at all but he does get to push policy for a while longer and I do wonder what he plans next.

This thread generally has links up to stuff like that right away but man there is hardly anything even out there. All the talk is of the primaries.

As much as I am over Bush we really do need to effect change before the new President gets put in place. It is not like we can have a year long freeze on political policy.

I wouldn't listen to Bush even if you waterboarded me.

The ONLY thing good about last nights speech is that it's the last State of the Union he'll ever give.

While I can not disagree there I do think we must be wary and act now. Congress can not simply hold their noses and close their eyes for months waiting until a new President is sworn in. We really do have a financial nightmare in front of us that we should deal with.

I am actually against the rebates.

I think that money will go more to stimulate other countries economies than our own. I'd like to see us pay down some of our national debt and propose a balanced budget for the next year.

Oh I agree that congress shouldn't sit on their butts for a year.

The thing that makes me mad is this clown still HAS one more year to screw things up.

I watched the entire address and felt it was a good speech, how much congress is willing to do remains to be seen but all in all I thought the President did a good job

What's the purpose? 2nd terms for most presidents are worthless as far as meeting their agenda. As soon as they enter they're lame ducks. Most are thrashed by some sort of scandal whether themselves or someone in their administration. The policies they push largely fail. And the last year is the lamest of them all.

    Fair enough.

Did he present any plan you found appealing?
Even in the foxnews review there was no detail about actually doing anything.

There are a few scathing reviews and I am sure a few lovefests about the speech but no real meat of his plans.

I'd definitely like him to push through an economic plan that faces harsh realities. I saw he talked of cutting back on earmarks but did not see any details at all about that or how he plans to get that passed Congress.

No but I'm not anti-Bush. I found it funny that people like Obama gave their view of the State of the Union speech before the speech was even given. I agree with the President on many issues and disagree on a few such as immigration which I would like to see much tougher legislation or even better actually deal with the problem with the laws that are currently on the books
