The Lions don't have that many picks.

Here is what they do have.

    1st...#1...
    1st...#20 (from Cowboys)...

    2nd...#33...

    3rd...#65...
    3rd...#82 (from Cowboys)...

    6th...#174...
    6th...#192 (from Cowboys)...

    7th...#255 (Compensatory Pick)...

If you want my Mock from that information, I'd be happy to contribute. I think the scenario above is pure fantasy since they don't have that many picks.

    Assuming no trades:

1st...#1 - Matthew Stafford, QB, Georgia
1st...#20 (from Cowboys) - Eben Britton, OT, Arizona
2nd...#33 - James Laurinaitis, LB, Ohio St.
3rd...#65 - Paul Kruger, DE, Utah
3rd...#82 (from Cowboys) - Trevor Canfield, OG, Cincinnati
6th...#161 - Glover Quin, CB, New Mexico St.
6th...#179 (from Cowboys) - Dominique Edison, WR, Stephen F. Austin
7th...#255 (Compensatory Pick) - Marcus McClinton, S, Kentucky

I go heavy OL early to help build a future line for Stafford. I take a DE in Kruger who drops on draft day and get a MLB to go with Ernie Sims.

Lions best bet would be to trade down and acquire more mid-round picks.

I know it is pure fantasy, that is what I want.....cause reality sucks, for the Lions. They dont have hardly any picks to play with and their team blows.

Why cant people just take what is presented to them and work with it....sheesh. Hos, always has to put a damper on my fantasy threads....

    Why I outta.....hehehehehe

    On NFL.com there's a Draft Tracker.

    http://www.nfl.com/draft/2009/tracker

If you look at the top there are menu tabs. 2nd from right is the team by team picks. It is updated. It even has the Denver and Chicago trade accounted for.

I wouldnt take Stafford number one if I were they. Stafford to me is a good prospect be he isnt John Elway. Alex Smith comes to mind. I would take almost a sure thing in Eugene Monore. Then with the second pick I would take another offensive lineman in Oher from Mississippi. I would play Monore at guard. Their oline was horrible. This would open more holes for Kevin Simith, who had a nice rookie season without a line, and give Calvin Johnson another second or two to get open. With the first pick of the second round I would take the best remaining pass rusher on the board or Josh Freeman. If you take Stafford I would have to sit him next season. The line is so bad he would take a beating and you dont know how he will react to it. Just look at the turnaround the Dolphins had with upgrading their line and relying on their running game. I would copycat that. In doing so, I would sign Bryon Leftwich and have him compete with Culpepper next year for the starting QB. You will be better and probably win 6 games.
