I personally think in 8-10 snaps he can give you value. I don’t think he can be explosive with the usual number of WR1 snaps and variety of routes that the position requires. But in specific spots of the field as a fourth receiver yes he can be an asset
Last time he played he'd lost the spring in his step and leaping ability. W/o that, he's a slow bad route runner.

And Dez refused to study his play book and learn routes.

All of the stuff you're saying was previously not good. I'm just not getting where you're getting your info from. It appears to be bad.

He’s going to be a 4th receiver lol. All he needs to do is run 2 routes and play to his strengths. Literally will get 8-10 snaps a game at most. This team is soft as charmin, at least he gives us some dog
he wont have Romo throwing to him and his chemistry with Dak was horrible as was his last year with us. He was so bad Jerry didnt even offer a cut. He'd be like Witten coming back only worse. Stop thinking of him 6 years ago but of his last 2 years with Dak. I really dk if he would make an XFL team

Yeah I think that’s not true at all. At the very least he deserves a chance to prove it
Why do fans not see when once great players are finished? If Dez had even a little chance of playing in this league, talent starved teams would already have been knocking.

Seems pretty obvious to most but there are some who want to believe those old players have one more good season left I guess. These players are and have been unsigned for a reason folks.

Why? He couldn't his last season, so what info do you have that says things have changed?

Not accurate. Like most of what you're typing.

He wasn't lining up against 3rd and 4th corners during his "last season". In fact, he was getting everyone's #1 guys, and double teams, because nobody cared about Terrence 'moron' Williams, who can't even make it in the XFL.

A ruptured Achilles will do that.

https://www.yahoo.com/sports/stephen-jones-dez-bryant-texted-150028444.html Dez wants to sign a deal with the Cowboys and Stephen is discussing it in the media. The artickle goes on to say that a 1 day deal is far more conceivable.

  • Dez has passion.
  • Red Zone threat.
  • Could be a 600 yd 7 TD receiver.
  • Is open to taking on any role.
  • Would be great out of the slot.
  • A chain mover.
  • The man is a real Cowboy, born and breed.
  • Dez knew that Garrett sucked.

Dez would be a great bridge in this new offense that creates specific roles for skill players in certain down and distances. MM created schemes in GB to manufacture efficiency on 3rd downs and in the red-zone. I think Dez has been humbled and this is a chance for Dez and the Cowboys to redeem themselves. The Boys took Witten back and they should do the same for Dez. Just give the man an opportunity, he deserves that.

Go Dallas!!!

If you don't think he deserves a try-out that's fine. But if he's in the right physical condition I guarantee you he will get an opportunity

It be interesting if they did take him back. Even more so if Bryant actually contributes in a good way .

Why are you acting like having a veteran specialty player is some new concept? People want to use Witten as the example against but it's the exact opposite. We saw Witt be effective early in the season and in red-zone and short 3rd yard areas. But since he was used 80-85% of the snaps he wore down and became less effective as the year wore on. Had he played the 25% of the snaps role that had been advertised, there's no doubt he would have been effecrive in those spots throughout the season.

Same with Vince Carter in the NBA. No longer is he the high flying dynamic player he once was, but he's given plenty of teams valuable minutes off the bench has provided a locker room presence.

IF Dez is healthy, I believe he can have some juice and be effective IN SPURTS. Can he be a number 1 or 2? No, probably not even a 3. But if the coaching staff can put him in positions to utilize his strength (which doesn't just go away) and savy to make some plays in the redzone and third down. I also think he's been humbled and matured in his star treatment mentality. I think he can provide an edge and passion this team misses. I love Coop but he isn't exactly the type to fire up the WR crew.

He deserves the chance to at least prove he is healthy. If you don't acknowledge that we are super far apart on then topic, respectfully

I'd post the video of what he was still doing in 2017, but the stupid accompanying music with the highlights would get me banned!
:banghead:

But I encourage you and anyone else truly interested to find Dez youtube highlights from 2017. Granted, yes they were highlights, but they show a receiver still capable of making plays, or at a minimum contributing.

I have no problem w/ a tryout.

That's all I would ask for him. And all I think he's asking for, a chance.

I think if this team doesn't at least investigate the opportunity, the Super Bowl champs will. And take the Cowboys organization to school yet again.

Fair enough.

My questions are specifically concerning whether Dez has regained the juice. He had lost it.

If Dez has anything left, someone will notice. He hasn’t played in two years, but if he has anything worth signing him for, he will get a chance. My opinion is he doesn’t have anything left. But I will let the NFL make that final decision.

He couldn't beat the #1's either.
