I know the salary cap has increased every year but does anyone know the percentage of salary cap Dak would use if we sign him to a 30mil, 35mil, or a 40mil per season contract?

I’m not a cap or salary guru like some here so I honestly don’t know. But if it’s more than say 13%-15%, then history does not bode well.

I like how we skip over 2010 even though we know the true cap that year because it doesn't fit the narrative.
Ah, didn't notice that. You sure?

There was no cap, and Aaron Rodgers made 6 mil. Since that's definitely not a high number, I'd say it was only left out due to no cap. You really trying to say one year proves something?

The NFL enforced a cap of 120m that year. Its too late at night so I don't want to do the math but I think 6.5 of 120 is like 5.2 or something off the top of my head. I would also want to see it graphed out to see how it affects the average but it should push it up.

Its funny though how Peyton is the highest and he was basically useless. Its also noteworthy how when you draw the stats and expand your pool yo get more data (to make a statistically significant sample size) you can directly see a correlation between QB salary and wins over the past 5 seasons with clumps for both the rookie deal and the expensive staters.

Basically I will try to put this together tomorrow if I have time, but there is a noticeable trend where teams that have the big money QBs are making the playoffs and by extension contending far more often than teams on the lower end of the QB play average.

One of the reasons we have to grow our pool though is that we do not have enough valuable data for the modern NFL SB Winners to draw a statistical conclusion. I am defining the modern NFL salary era to begin about 3-4 years AFTER the introduction of the rookie wage scale which suddenly gave owners more money to spend in FA so that exploaded the salaries of top free agents as a % of cap.

Looks to me that around 10% is the tops.

We just do not have enough raw data from the rookie wage scale numbers to draw a conclusion. There is a definitive spike that can certainly be attributed to the reduced role that rookie contracts play in terms of salary cap numbers as that number shifted more towards big money free agents and QBs so data from the 90s or even 2000s is just useless. Even data in the first year or two is somewhat tainted because it took time for that money to fall off. The problem with looking at just SB winning QBs during that time though is you have Brady taking a lower number somewhat shifting the data and even then 6 is not a significant enough sample size so what we need to do is grow our sample size to playoff teams or even divisional round playoff teams so that we can be limited to around the top 8 every year and thus we manage to lessen the Brady outlier, and we can have a firmer grasp of what a team can afford to pay and still be a contender because if you can make it that far you can make it all the way.

Yeah but the Cowboys still got screwed in 2011 because Jerry took a risk. I still don’t understand how you can be penalized for something that this nation is built on.

This team will be the highest paid team that never won a darn thing and never will. Signing Dak to such huge money is the death of this team for years to come

Wow what a great post.

Clear as day that anyone who wants Prescott signed to a long term contract for anywhere between $35-$40 million do not want the team to win a Superbowl.

Amazing post. So funny that it blows out the water all the Prescott fans who want him to be paid like an elite QB.

Prescott will get grossly overpaid but this thread should be pinned as the warning was put out there before the ship sank.

Well folks it looks like none of the top QB's will ever win a SB again. I see Andy Daulton is only making 16M per year. Maybe Marcus Marriota rejuvenation project is needed.
What a goofy thread attempting to prove something it fails to prove. I bet the Seahawks didnt realize when they paid Russel it would mean they can never win another SB again.... sucks for them.

Here is a list of teams that will never win a SB due to the QB salary.....according to this thread.

Oh yea....Once Mahommes gets his next contract he will never win again.

You guys have cracked the code....
