Do people really believe there is a better option than Dak this year?

This past season was Dak's best year. His rookie year had a better pick rate but he only averaged 18 attempts a game. 2019 was far and away his most productive.

do you have any idea who I am? jumping in the middle of something that you have no clue about, coming to conclusion by reading a single post!? what made you feel that you needed to jump in the middle of this?
Just the obvious conclusion that a trained, licensed therapist wouldn't think they're helping anyone by belittling them and being a smart ..... you are simply arguing with another fan and not agreeing with him. All pretensions to the contrary are fooling no one.

Since your such a math whiz, how many TDs did he throw in Philly with a playoff birth on the line? ZERO . Not even a TD drive.

Even if you didn't want to do the work and break down the season, that game tells you all you need to know about Dak and why he's not an elite QB. He isn't capable of greatness or even being really good in big moments.

Whose arguing against Dak getting a raise? The debate here is whether to pay him like an average starting Qb (which he is) or a top 3 starting QB. Clearly, having 3 pro bowl lineman, Zeke, and 2 1k WRs isn't enough for Dak. Paying him so much money that you can't keep the existing talent around him or add to it makes no sense for the Dallas Cowboys.

I see so if any QB like oh say Brady or Rodgers or even going back to Aikman has a game where he threw zero TD's that game is the total measuring stick for his career. Please tells us more about Elliott last season who had 6 games where he rushed for under 60 yards, one on 18 carries and ONLY 35 yards. That eagle game he was so much help with his whopping 47 yards. Or should we talk about the 5 sacks the line gave up in that game or the 4 dropped passes in that game. Maybe we should talk about the 431 yards the defense gave up or allowing the eagles to convert 42% of their 3rd downs.

Funny thing, not ha ha funny, That there are way more reasons why the Cowboys lost 8 games beyond Prescott.

during preseason I criticized Dak for some of his short comings, specially his foot work, which lead to inaccuracy and him not trusting himself. I was called a Dak hater, but I was being a realist. My point was that he needs to improve some of his fundamentals and his game will improve along with it. Seemingly as I have read and heard from everyone that his footwork was much better, his numbers as a result was much better. Despite everything and all the arguments against Dak, he did have a good year, although he had some bad games and some bad stretches in some games. coaching, or lack of it cost us at least 2 games, if not 3. special teams contributed and bad bad defense was a big culprit.

I guess Brady sucked, since in a playoff game against the titans and at home no less, he had no TDs and was awful..and to your point that was the last game of the season....

lamar Jackson sucked since ravens only scored 12 points....just down right awful and at home no less

and grapolo...OMG, down right awful, he had 8 passes against the packers in the NFCCG....that's awful awful awful

yeah, these people want you to forget the entire body of work, (except when it fits their argument), pick and choose games, drives and plays to make their point

I'm not guaranteeing anything because contrary to your belief, you, me nor anyone else here has anything to do with who the Cowboys sign as players, coaches, what time they have team meetings or anything else that has to do with the Cowboys. Unfortunately there are some "fans" that have extremely little NFL knowledge but just love playing wannabe GM's that think they have all the answers. And what's really funny, this time ha ha funny, these wannabe GM's actually think that if anyone disagrees with their view on things that they are routing for 8-8 seasons. These wannabe GM's just don't see that their plans are just as funny as they are. Have you ever considered talking your act on the road to comedy clubs?
.

And then we have people who call anyone who disagrees with them: wannabe GM's.

Dude, open your eyes. Dak is plenty of good and way above average. Every statistic proves it. Stop drinking the haterade and finally get over your beloved Romo. It's been 4 years already and going on 5.

It's always the jilted Girlfriends that bring up the names more often, it seems. hmm....

I’m talking about the people who wouldn’t support Dak if he won a Super Bowl and mvp award because they cannot or will not admit they are wrong

I've been wrong about Dak. Back when he first was playing in the preseason I saw something special and at the End of 2016 I thought that Dak and Wentz would be the next generation of elite QBs in the league. I thought that he would surpass Romo in greatness. Then 2017 came by and exposed some of the flaws that Dak had, and those lingered into 2018. I was thinking at that time that Dak was just average and wouldn't ultimately overcome his in inaccuracies and forget a bout the Deep Game. Dak is a hard worker, and he worked hard and improved his game, and now the things about him not having a deep game is a thing of the past thanks to his hard work ethic.

Ultimately I think Dak is on the same level as Romo. A good Quarterback but not quite Elite. Both aren't Clutch like the elite ones, they're normal at winning games, and both now have had seasons where they had a chance to be clutch but lost the must win games. Dak has one thing going for him that Romo didn't have now. He lost the puppet coach, and hopefully has a good coach in the prime of his career. A good Coach gives him a chance to win in the playoffs, but I don't think a good coach can overcome crossing the line of where you overpay a QB too much the talent level drops around him too much to be able to win a championship. I am for paying Dak, but I'm not for overpaying him so much that he will have to carry the team to win.

Here the answer to your "they could have gotten several safeties on the cheap". Have you ever heard of the old saying of you get what you pay for? If players can be gotten for that cheap, then there are reasons that they are that cheap and certainly it's VERY questionable that they are ANY kind of improvement to what the Cowboys already had. Oh ya I do 10,000% trust professional coaches and scouts over ANY wannabe scout/GM.

When you continue with your cap knowledge you make me laugh and wonder if you really are someone in grade school or someone with just the mentality of someone in grade school that also has a drug problem. If you really think that to continue to renegotiating contracts that just puts dead money on the cap down the road leaving very little actual cap space and repeating that cycle every year you are in an EXTREMELY tiny minority that think that is the smart way to control and manage their cap.

I honestly can't decide which you are worse at. Your evaluating of players or your understanding of the cap. They're both terrible and a toss up which one is worse.

.

Me and Aviano disagree a lot of times. But when you start insulting him, or any poster around here, questioning if they are grade schoolers and doped out on something, well it kind of makes it hard to take you serious from here on out. When you debate somebody, you should attack their arguments and not the debaters themselves. Attacking the person making the arguments means that you don't have anything to back up your own argument.

When you move on from your franchise QB you pay a steep price and the Cowboys have been there and done it with Troy Aikman. The Cowboys endured a six year struggle of futility trying to replace him. The Dak haters want Dak replaced with either an aging vet, journeyman or high draft pick. The Cowboys tried all the above to replace Aikman. After he was released their top draft pick was Quincy Carter who failed. They tried Chad Hutchinson who showed potential in college and he failed.

The Cowboys gave up a third round pick for Drew Henson who showed great potential in college and he failed. They tried Ryan Leaf who was kicked to the curb by San Diego and he failed. They brought in an aging Vinny and Bledsoe and they failed. Any fan who thinks replacing Dak will be as simple as drafting another QB or bringing in a veteran journeyman is a fool who hasn’t been following football or this team very long.

First of we don't know if Dak will get a deal that done that won't hurt us too much. It's the $40 mil thing that seems to be whats too costly. I do remember the days after Aikman and how painful it was. But if Dak does hold out for the $40 mil price tag, then basically he has put our team into a no win situation. You have the painful Choice of trying to find another quarterback, or you can choose the reality of 8-8 and 6-10 seasons because you have a good quarterback, but you are unable to surround him with enough talent, and the quarterback is good, but he is not elite and is unable to carry a team with holes through the playoffs. Romo wasn't able to overcome flaw teams and carry them through the Playoffs and so far Dak hasn't show that ability either. In fact, while I have seen Romo being able to carry a team during the regular season in some games, I don't really think have hae seen any evidence at all yet that Dak can carry a team. So is it logical to choose the option where you require a quarterback to be able to carry a team to have any shot of playoff success, and the QB you have hasn't shown any sign that he is capable of that. Or is it logical to choose the option where you have to gamble on trying to find his replacment. Dak can win, and I think Dak can win a superbowl from the improvements in him I have seen. But I don't think Dak has a chance to win if you set things up so that he is responsible to carry a team. That is my opinion.
