"The Bills aren't expected to re-sign free agent DT Jordan Phillips.
Phillips will test the open market coming off a career year. There should be no shortage of interest in the 27-year-old after exploding for 9.5 sacks in 2019. With Phillips unlikely to be back in Buffalo, Ed Oliver will step into an every-down role."

6' 6" 341 pounds He may be pricey after a career year but a great addition to the d-line.

That's the kind of FA the Cowboys should be kicking the tires on. Big need and in his prime, they should pursue him.

So most don't want Dak to be given an earned market value new contract of $32+ million per year, but some are willing to pay what very likely be a very pricey in his prime DT who came off his best season yet?

you got it
Dak is average looking for elite money
Phillips is really really good looking for really good money

thanx for playing

Get real....do you think Phillips is getting 32 mil a year like Dak wants plus some. Phillips is the type of players you need in the trenches to win. We have seen what happens to us up the middle.

And I'm not going to pretend to know which one is the best one for Dallas to get. I just want them to get one instead of just relying on midround picks, potential or cheap FAs to man the middle. That strategy just has not paid off.

I would take a bull in the middle over paying Quinn to come back, although Dallas can do both of those if it chooses.

They just don’t get it. They have to see another guy get paid after a career year just to bust and flop. Happens every single year.

All these FA's want too much money. Why would Dallas even show any interest when they have to figure out how to keep some of their own?!

Because there is plenty of money to go around if Dallas so chooses. All the team has to do if needed is restructure some contracts that were built to be restructured. If it works out long-term deals with Prescott, Cooper and Jones, it possibly won't even have to use restructures this year. Franchise/transitional tags cause a heavier immediate hit, so those restructures would likely be needed for any other FAs the team wants to sign.

Not saying the team will sign any high-dollar FAs other than its own since the Joneses' strategy has been to not play the outside FA game because they don't believe they get enough of a return on their investment. (I believe taking an all-or-nothing stance is detrimental and the team needs to just be picky about the high-ticket players it pursues.)

I’m down to look at him but he’s about to break bank. Basically the Bills did to Phillips what we should’ve done with Lawrence. Love Lawrence. Probably my favorite player on the team but that’s just too much money to give someone and the production ain’t there.

I think "most" don't want the team to pay more than 35.....but "many" would be willing to pay a high price for a player who can single handedly improve the defense considerably.

I read somewhere he told the Bills he wants to get paid, and well they got decent to good guys behind him.

Because they need DTs badly. As always, a lot is going to depend on how much they cost but anyone who thinks they can shot at Walmart and walk away with a top tier talent is just kidding themselves. You want to win championships? then be willing to part with some money for guys who can make a difference.
