I don't think any of them as elite or close to elite. Which is why I wouldn't give any of them a monster contract. But Dak is more durable, is a better running threat, and rarely if ever throws picks in the endzone. That infuriates me. Dude, just don't throw the ball. Cousins is known for that. Same when we had Bledsoe. I wanted to strangle him.
Correct. My disagreement with probably you and a few others is that I Don't think Dak has hit his ceiling. I don't believe he's elite right now. I think based on his age and what he's done he's on the right track to being a solid quarterback in this league. He's at the same point in his career that most of his peers are like Wentz, Goff, Watson, Mayfield, Lamar, etc. Mahomes has left the pack and on to a island all by himself.

Running threat. When the last time Dak really even done that? The game against Seattle? He doesn’t run as much for some reason. Durable is luck imo but if you want to use that ok. If Dak get hit right he going out just like anybody else that’s why I don’t really like using durability but I do understand why people say it. Personally I’ll take someone that takes chances over someone who doesn’t just because they know most people will be okay if you don’t take chances as long as you don’t actually fail. I think they are all the same player and would put up similar stats here that’s why I lump them all in together esp Cousins and Dak. Smith is the older version of a ok qb that you need to move on from whenever you get the chance to.

If the medical checks out then you just get Tua in the building and worry about the rest later.

We take Daks contract off the books for awhile so whatever you lost in picks you can make up for with cap space..

Also, Tua provides more offense so the team will get better overall and you won’t need the ultra team that you would need with Dak.
He provides more offense? He’s unproven and is only 6 foot tall coming off a huge injury. Yup he will make us better 100 percent.

It would be arguably the dumbest move in Jerry's reign.

Yeah, and like I said, are we sure about the Commanders? Imagine trading up with Detroit and Washington picks Tua? Or what if Cinci picks Tua and Burrow is sitting there? What do the Cowboys do in that case? They'd be forced to pick Herbert and let Chase Young go to the Giants. A disaster! Dallas could pick Young but then they couldn't trade up for Eason in the 2nd because they used that draft capital to move up. Way too risky. The only way Dallas can trade up for Tua is to move to the 2nd pick. Otherwise it's too risky.

If the medical checks out then it’s a no contest between Dak and Tua.

Not at all. I was a Romo fan. When Dak came along I embraced him even though I liked Romo. Defended him on this site against a lot of you guys who claim to like him now. But I wasn't always that way. I got that way by the time Romo was 36 and it was pretty obvious he and this team had reach its ceiling. I'm not there with Dak yet.

And I don't care about Alex Smith's numbers. I saw him in San Fran and in KC. Use your eyes don't use stats. Maybe you can compare Dak's rookie year to Alex Smith but they are no where near the same player now. Kirk Cousins year when he had Garcon and Desean Jackson go off for 1k yards a piece compares somewhat to Dak.

And you aren't a troll because you disagree. As you can see by the last few posts me and @Fastpitch Dad @Flamma don't necessarily agree on Dak but they aren't trolling. You calling him "Alex Cousins" is you trying to rile the board up like trolls do.
Here we go with this lazy generalized bs. You never defended Romo against me because I criticized Romo and gave props when they were due. Maybe them were other imaginary poster not named me you’re speaking on.

Funny you say use your eyes not stats but when I feel that way about Dak it’s a problem. I don’t think he’s that good and those QBs I keep comparing him too would do similar things with this same setup esp Cousins. I just say Smith because we should do Dak like Smith was done in KC and he’s average too.

Calling him Alex Cousins can only rile up emotional fools honestly. It’s a joke nickname that fits him but if that’s “riling” people up like I said folks in their emotions bag something serious smh. Dak isn’t a woman he don’t need to be protected at all cost smh

If in the last 4 seasons i would have seen Dak improve in areas like stepping up in the pocket and his footwork to a degree or being able to hit his receivers in stride on crossing patterns better than he does now then i would agree with you, but in the 4 years he has been a QB IMO he still gets extremely flustered in the pocket, his physicality and legs same him in alot of situations where other QB's in the same situation would go down and that is a plus but as he gets older his legs and mobility will diminish as they do with all QB's more so with running QB's. I just don't think he is going to get any better than he is today, infact i would say that the Dak we saw in 2019 is a Dak who had a "career year" and would think he will have a falloff next season closer to what we saw from him in 2017-2018. I do respect your opinion but i think Dak has hit his ceiling. For the record i know Dak will be our QB next year ( i hope it is because he gets tagged) and i would be very happy to come in here and say i was flat out wrong i just don't see that being the case

I'm not sure I ever said I thought Dak hit is ceiling. Even if he didn't hit his ceiling, that's irrelevant to me. I just don't want to take the chance in hoping he improves dramatically while we lose key players as a result. Given Dak's skillset right now, if we let him walk Dallas could keep the UFAs they need and even improve the team through free agency. The risk is drafting another QB at least equal to his skillset. I just think it's riskier paying Dak. I think a QB like Dak is fine, just not at elite money.

Sure it is. One has played in the nfl and one hasnt. Remember Ryan leaf?

Lolll

I wish you guys knew how to project players a little better so you wouldn’t be so terrified of drafting Ryan Leaf lolll...

The Rookie wage scale doesn’t even make it a big deal anymore anyways if the QB busts.

What is a big deal is paying a QB 15% + of a your salary cap and trying to win a Super Bowl.

If Tua’s medical checks out.. Tua > Dak alllll day and it’s not even close.

Tua is more then a bus driver.

No.. I don’t care about their production.. I care about their talent going forward.

This is how you evaluate players going into the NFL.

Them playing well is only the first step.

Tua is on another level when it comes to understanding the passing game, reading defenses, and throwing accurate passes.

QBs aren’t coming into the league and falling flat on their face for the most part now days anyways..

Completely disagree. How do we know we’ve seen his ceiling when cowboys fans all collectively agree that Garrett was a terrible coach that held us back and wasted years of some of our best talent.
lol,, JGs magic powers of ineptitude magically influenced Dak to miss wide open targets by a country mile in crucial situations routinely...
Garrett was a horrible HC, but this circus is really getting out of control, and the elephants are riding the clowns now.

People still acting like qb's getting 50million from day 1. Guess they forgot how Arizona drafted qb's top10 in back to back drafts.

In a recent interview, Tua Tagovailoa said that he would enjoy playing for the Dallas Cowboys. Hear Doug Gottlieb make a case for the Cowboys to let Dak Prescott walk in order to trade up and select Tua in the 2020 NFL Draft.

We've seen Dak's ceiling under arguably the worst game-time head coach in the NFL. Now it's time to see his real ceiling.

We are on a sports forum. No one is "protecting Dak at all costs". We are either going to agree or disagree. And you are suggesting do to Dak what was done to Alex Smith but Alex SMith was in his 30's when that happened. It was time to happen.

And if you look at Dak in comparison with other quarterbacks his age and still think he's not very good than that's a reflection of your eyes and your understanding of football. And that's fine. We are just seeing two different things.

He very well could’ve hit his ceiling. I think there are some attributes he’s gotten better at. I think his deep ball last season was the best it’s been since being here. I thought last season he did a much better job if not taking sacks.

I also think he played for the one head coach who refuses to take advantage of things you do well. I feel that about a lot of guys on this team. I feel like their motto was to fit a square peg in a round hole. So part of my optimism with a new coach and seeing someone actually take advantage of the skill set some of these guys have.

Garrett was a horrible HC, but this circus is really getting out of control, and the elephants are riding the clowns now.

I think you missed his point. Garrett isn’t at fault for inaccurate passes but if guys aren’t prepared and if guys aren't being used properly that will effect play on the field. Not knowing what to do with a mobile quarterback is criminal.

See that’s where I disagree. I think you could very well get worse than Dak. It’s also not a given a player catches on as quick as Dak did.

See i happen to agree with you on this it's just as much as i think there are worse QB's than Dak out there i happen to think there are better and to me that represents a QB that is average or maybe slightly better than average, and while you can win with that if everything around him is very very good i don't think that is what you want from a franchise QB
