I was stunned to learn that Cowboys gave backup QB Cooper Rush a tender. So this is how much McCarthy-Kellen-Mussehemier group think that highly of da Coop ?

it doesn't mean anything in terms of dollars nor compensation picks with Rush, but I thought it was a typo error when I first read that news ticker.

was this more about liking a familiar face in a familiar system with some of the current coaches I wonder.

the jarwin move I could more understand as if some team swoops him up, it's practically leaves us with zero creditable TE help, going into this offseason FA/NFL draft.

Maybe Rush is better than everyone thinks. He was the only backup carried to Dak the last year or two and has always performed well in preseason. The bigger question should be why wouldn’t he be tendered?

no, he hasn't always performed well in preseason, as Rush was just dreadful a couple years ago in the preseason in 2018.

If Mike White was anything near close to the word decent, he would be on the team instead of Rush.
Cooper did turned it around by bouncing back to having a decent preseason last year in 2019.

Don’t forget that he was also literally the best QB in the preseason in the entire NFL in 2017.
It seems some fans (mostly insecure Dak slobberers) have a negative opinion of Rush, but thanks largely to Dak standing around padding his stats in garbage time it is still a complete mystery what he might do in a real game. It’s hard to have an opinion either way.

He just got an original tender, which since he was a UDFA we only get the right to match.

Its only 2 mil, which is still very low for a back up.

Would be nice to have one still in a rookie scale, but Mike White didnt work out

Vets are too expensive, and knock on wood, Dak never gets hurt. He made it out of the Jets game where I haven’t seen a QB punished like that in a lonnnnggggg time.

I dont think it means much of anything to be honest other than they dont want to be left with no one.

I never thought Rush was bad.

His rookie year everybody loved him.

Then his 2nd year he struggled and we never saw him after that.

How is anybody to know?

QBs have sophmore jinks like everybody else.

If the coaches thought he was that bad, they would have acrambled for help.

They did not.

So to hold on to him is interesting. Moore has to like him.

As they are keeping offensive continuity it makes sense.

He is going on 3 yrs in the offense.

And as noted, his cap hit is good.
