The Baby Boom generation got to see both the 70s era and the 90s era. The 70s gave us the consistently dominating - but sometimes disappointing - Cowboys that won 2 of 5 Super Bowls and established the great tradition we enjoy today. The 90s gave us the brash and dominating Cowboys who talk trashed and backed in up on the field.

So which era do you think is the best?

With all due respect to Tom Landry, who I respect and had the privilege of interviewing prior to his death, I have to give it to 90s Cowboys.
The 70s teams could pull a victory out of the grips of defeat, but could also lose a winnable game as well.
The 90s teams were simply dominating and feared in a way I don't think the 70s Cowboys were. I never expected them to lose. I always felt they would find a way to win. Too bad the era was short-lived.

What say ye?

The 70's. As a kid growing up and being a huge fan, it wasn't about making the playoffs in the 70's, it was about winning championships. Making the playoffs was a given, there was not a single doubt about it. What, 19 winning seasons in a row.

the 90's were fun, that team was amazing and for a few years, 92-96, it was the same, it wasn't about would we make the playoffs, it was were we going to win another SB. But as quick as we reached the mountain top, we fell back down the mountain.

As a Cowboys fan, there will never be another time like 70's. IMO.

Born in '71. I remember the later stages of the legends and why I'm a fan. But, I'd give the edge to the '90s teams

My personal preference is the 70's, but admittedly that has a lot to do with being the decade I fell in love with the Cowboys. But I also think that was the better era based on being a Super Bowl contenders throughout the decade, whereas in the 1990s that was limited to a 4-5 year span. I will, however, admit that those 1990's Super Bowl years were probably the strongest Cowboy teams ever.

the 90s was far shorter but also more elite.
3 titles in 4 years.

70s was more "truth the process" stuff. consistent excellence but limited breakthroughs to win the Lombardi.
I was born in 72 so only really know the end of that decade.
Watching Staubach deliver comeback wins was my start of a life long love affair with sports.
And I am not sure I have ever had a worse moment thus far than that stupid arsed lucky catch by dwight clark.

90s was Miami swagger but in Dallas. It is was arguably thew greatest 4 years run in NFL history but it was like a supernova a that burned hot and fast.
What followed was painful to watch.

the "70s Cowboys" were the middle of a 20 year run of greatness. If you want to say the 90s has 1 more SB win thats fine, but by every other measure the 70s team achieved more

I posted this the other day in response to a similar question.

With out a doubt, the 70s teams were more dominating and the players from then fill our Hall of Fame in Canton.

I loved Troy and the boys of the 90s and how they rebuilt the Franchise..

but the 70s. team built our reputation.

Watch.

Because of the consistency OVER TIME have to give it to the 70's teams. I saw them both as I've been a fan since the Ice Bowl. Now, If I had to pit one against the other I think the 90's team would beat the 70's team simply because of the OL.

One other thing ... the early 70's team was not the same as the later 70's team. With the coming of the Dirty Dozen, the team changed, especially the D.
