Is McCarthy the 'real deal?"

There is 0% chance he tried to roll out the same game plan. 2 different teams.
We shall see.

The FA signings so far hint at changes for us.

The draft will tell us alot more.

We all assume MM has given Jerrah and Crew a shopping list for the rest of his changes.

Whether that is inspiring all new ideas or reinforcing old ones..

It's just unclear.

hasn't even coached a game or directed an off-sesson workout yet and already brings 2 fat-belly's...McCoy and Poe....AND an up-grade at S in Clinton-Dix.
thats enuff for me.
yes.
he's the real deal.
Well..

You know the way he is doing things is very stealthy and quiet.

Have you noticed?

With our 3 big FA signings, no big pressers announcing the events?

I know there are prohibitions against gatherings, but not a peep.

Not even a camcast from Jerrah's desk office from home.

What's up with that?

So as much as I want MM to succeed..

he himself is the definition of "a retread".

He even admits as much.

So while I want to believe the arrow is pointing up under him..

I have to see it first.

The general trend is that getting rid of Garrett is a pancrea answer to our problems.

But I wonder.

No..I did not care for Garrett's inconsistency..

but occasionally this team played like world-beaters and made other teams look foolish.

We would all say "finally" and prepare for some success..

Only to fall back into our funk.

So being that McCarthy says he has learned his lesson about having a stale offense which caused him to be fired..

how do we really know?

I want to know what signs you guys will be looking for from McCarthy to confirm he is 'the real deal?'

Simple answers like win 'a Superbowl' do not count.

Tell me more. I am in long analysis mode as I have plenty of time to think. I do not want to follow this team in 2020 if McCarthy is just another coach wanting to just take Jerrah's money and say 'I tried' like Parcells did.

Unacceptable.

The reality is we won't know until we know, right... that being said, I am looking for him to get the team going when things aren't going well, making changes as needed in plays and players. If a guy is out hurt, that he is able to change scheme to account for the change. If things are going good, to keep riding it until the other team can stop it. MM has a better winning percentage than JG did both in the regular season and especially in the playoffs. I saw someone say the Packers should have done even better when he was there, but there is NO denying that we should have done better while JG was here with some of the talented teams we had.

Got to like your answers.

It's the reason why I posted the thread.

Some here do not want to get critisized for saying what they think.

Others will say what they think and the heck with hecklers.

I just like to add to my knowledge base without prejudice.

I don't care if you agree or not.

I try to understand thought processes.

Hmm..

what a waste of time.

MM is being built up around here like he is a Tom Landry or Jimmy Johnson. A lot of that is because he is simply not Garrett and any change from Garrett will be embraced and liked. I wasn’t impressed with him when he was in GB. Maybe he will do better here?

Mike McCarthy's first season as Cowboys coach we should be looking for how the team builds momentum as the season progresses. How do they handle a losing streak, or moreover a winning streak. Sometimes it just comes down to the character of the team, so for me, it's paramount to see that the team is developing good character traits.

I also believe that instead of trying to predict whether Mike McCarthy is the real deal or not, we should acknowledge that he has proven that he is. You don't get your team to as many NFC championships and win a super bowl without being a solid coach so the thought of whether or not Mike McCarthy is the real deal or not shouldn't even be a question. If you would of said "How will big mike perform under Jerry" I would find that a more satisfactory question.

I don't really know MM yet. I know even less about his coaching choices.

Right now my off-season optimism is in full swing, so I'll expect much better game day decisions.

It can also be said that MM has shown that he is not the real deal at times. He would still be in GB if he was. The question is “which MM are they getting?”.

Best part is we get to find out. We already know he gets more authority and respect from Jerry than Garrett. Which is the #1 biggest thing. The coaches are loyal to MM, not Jerry. Huge advantage.

And we have already seen MM address our two biggest weaknesses in FA. Something Garrett ddint do in 10 years that he was here.

That could be said for even Bill Billchick.. Heck, he has had some pretty bad seasons as well. Look at Mike Tomlin as well, he has let the wheels fall off a few times too. Big Mike has proved he can get it done, that
can't be disputed.

So was Belichick when the Patriots hired him.

So was Don Shula when the Dolphins hired him.

The narrative that McCarthy "wasted" the prime of Aaron Rodgers looks suspicious now that we've seen him coached by an offensive boy genius and the results were... the same, if not worse. The Packers fielded some good teams, but McCarthy also had to contend with weak defensive rosters and scrub running backs for long stretches as well, and since he wasn't GM it's hard to hang that around his neck.

As great as Rodgers has been, his freelancing and holding the ball in hopes of scoring the big kill shot have ALSO led him to kill drives with unnecessary sacks at a high rate, when following the "boring" play call might have gotten them a 1st down.
