The Dallas Cowboys should go all-in to trade for all-pro Jets safety Jamal Adams this offseason. Securing Adams would be an immediate boost to the defense.
When the Dallas Cowboys were unable to finalize a trade at the deadline of this past season for New York Jets All-Pro safety Jamal Adams, there was speculation from people surrounding the organization that the topic would re-emerge in the offseason.

CowboyMaven’s Mike Fisher recently mentioned that he believes the Cowboys would be willing to offer a high draft pick in exchange for the star safety before the draft if they sense the Jets and Adams cannot reach an extension.

If the Cowboys can trade their first-round selection, the 17th overall pick, in the upcoming NFL draft for Adams, they should jump on the offer with no hesitation. The Jets originally wanted more than the Cowboys first-rounder during the season, resulting in the negotiations coming to an end. If the Jets sense they cannot reach a long-term agreement with Adams, they may be willing to lower their asking price...

The Cowboys have some x-tra picks they can use...as well as a future pick(s).

If we were to make this move, and it ended up being more than the 17th pick, I'd really wish the Cowboys would include "conditional" 2021 draft picks.

One, we're pick rich in 2021, with an anticipated 10 picks ( we traded a pick for Michael Bennett).

Two, a conditional pick that escalates if Adams plays well or re-signs is worth it.

If you're upset that the 2021 pick went from a 4th to a 2nd because Adams played at an All-Pro level for us and/or re-signed, then you are in this for the wrong reasons.

hes not worth that much we have pics sure but what he truly worth without over extending whats his actual value is plus he wants to be paid BIG immediate extension and agreement would be needed..

Get to the second round and offer them our pick, Xavier Woods and a 2021 pick (up to a second rounder). Picks are more valuable on the clock.

I guess this offseason y’all have settled down some last offseason some of y’all were ready to give 2 first for Thomas .

id be ok with # 17 but I’d rather just draft safety.

I am crazy about the idea of getting the player, but there’s NO WAY I’m trading valuable draft capital for someone in the last year of their contract, who will be looking to reset the market on renegotiation. It just doesn’t make sense.

If none of the safeties in this draft excite them, then identify another young safety early in his contract for a trade or wait until next year and go “all in” on that guy.

Did the Bennett trade wind up as a 6th or 7th

If we don't plan to use our cap, then yes. He's better than anyone we can find at 17
If we are planning to spend all our cap, maybe not.

Using our 2020 1st rounder AND paying him a fortune is basically the same as giving up two first-rounders.
In other words, Clowney + Logan Ryan + Pick 17 might be better than just Adams
