How would you feel if the Cowboys took QB Jalen Hurts early?

I like Hurts as a person, but not as an NFL QB, but I would LOVE taking him in the 2nd rd..... for one reason only. It would send the message loud and clear that we are ok with letting Dak go be the QB in a place like SD where his national exposure, and as a result his endorsement money would dry up. Let that slap you in the face dak because we arent making you a top 5 paid qb, and if you think you are sniffing anything near what Mahomes is about to get, you will be sniffing it on another team.

Rumors persist...this could be the case...

For me personally...It would be a little rich...to spend that kind of coin...2nd or 3rd...but if he was sitting there in round 5 or 6....I could see the value having a guy that could an "X" factor in your offense.

Comments?....
Terrible. He is in no way an NFL QB.

It's hilarious that some of the people who think Dak is awful actually think Hurts is going to be a good NFL QB.

Have a very hard time getting excited about QBs from the OU system. All Bradford, Mayfield and Murray did was win in the QB friendliest system there is, but haven't been what they were drafted to be in the NFL. IMO, Hurts isn't as talented as Mayfield or Murray. Not a fan of the idea at all

Your Dak-hate is loud and clear.

When I look at Hurts, the first player I think of is Dak.
They have a lot in common
  • Both have good leadership traits
  • Skill levels seem similar coming into the league--definitely not pure passers but room to improve
  • Hurts is much faster than Dak, (4.59 vs 4.79)
  • Dak is slightly bigger than Hurts and also has bigger hands

Honestly most teams fail to properly address the position. Taking a QB in round 1 could allow you to move on from a high priced Dak and put resources elsewhere after year 1. That would give you a 4 year window to make a run. Or even if you take a QB later you can still develop and get a few years of cheap service or trade him to one of the many QB needy teams.

lol...I remember all the talk about Lamar Jackson too. Hurts isn't as fast but the negative complaints are the same from the masses...lol

Hurts isn’t bad but I don’t find him as athletic as many think. Maybe it’s his build but seems slow in pocket despite having speed vs Dak

Aren't the Cowboys about to break the bank for a Hurts-like player?

I dont think its bold at all. I still cant figure out why people were surprised he had a good pro day and combine. Im like did not anyone see this guy come off the bench and put the team on his back when Tua sucked and then got hurt? People forget that game but Tua was garbage in that game and if Tua had not got hurt Hurts doesnt play and Bama doesnt make it to the NC game that year. The mental toughness it took and being ready to help his team win at literally a seconds notice. Then Hurts just went to a different college and picked up a new scheme and became a Heisman finalist. Not bold at all. Especially if you watched him play. I hate the Sooners and Bama.....but I like a good story. Hurts has "It"......and will be the best QB in his class.

Tua is the Wince of this class.....Burrow is the Goof and Hurts is the Dak Attack

Then I’ll pass on all 3

But wait, how can a QB be called in-accurate if he completed 70% of his passes.....?

Yeah.....I think that stat was a little misleading. 50 out of 72 completions...don't make a season. But still...I was surprised by the high percentage. Especially after seeing him @ the combine. He reminded me of Dak...and his inaccuracy.....he was all over the place IMO.

I am no draft guru. but from what I've seen on nfl network and some others as well as the hype of some real draft gurus, I would not be upset. dak's contract demands may forever remain outrageous. chance favors the prepared mind.

Are you serious right now?

Facts are facts. Jalen was a more accurate college QB. Dak is obviously the better pro QB, but that took 4 years of development. Where will Jalen be in 4 years, who knows? But clearly scouts would say Jalen may be more NFL ready and skilled when you consider his projected draft position vs where Dak went. You would feel the same way too if they were both part of the same rookie class. None of it matters when Jalen hits the pros, but stating Jalen is a far less accurate QB when comparing where they both were at this point is inaccurate.
