How are you guys going to react if we draft a WR like Lamb if Kinlaw is on the board and available when we pick at #17. It could happen.
I will lose my **** if his knee has checked out and we still go WR over him if he is there.

Beaker42, don't worry he won't be there. I think Dallas will get wiped out by 17. The below is what I have been seeing consistently in mock drafts. If it close, I'm trading down if I have a partner, but if not I have to take a real hard look at Kristian Fulton, Trevon Diggs, Raekwon Davis or Curtis Weaver.

Josh Jones, OT, Houston
Kristian Fulton, CB, LSU
Antoine Winfield Jr., S/CB, Minnesota
Justin Jefferson, WR, LSU
Trevon Diggs, CB, Alabama
Jordan Love, QB, Utah State
A.J. Epenesa, DE, Iowa
Yetur Gross-Matos, DE, Penn State
D'Andre Swift, RB, Georgia
Curtis Weaver, DE, Boise State
Kenneth Murray, LB, Oklahoma
Ezra Cleveland, OT, Boise State
Tee Higgins, WR, Clemson
Raekwon Davis, DT, Alabama
Cesar Ruiz, C/G, Michigan

The one good thing about signing Poe, McCoy, Dix, Brown, Smith, Lee, Jarwin, and Gregory possibly being reinstated is it likely allows the Cowboys to focus on selecting the best player available. They filled most glaring needs with short term contracts and now the question becomes who's the best player available to upgrade?

If it were me, I would priortize DB if the talent is there to justify the pick. Most of the starting secondary will be free agents after this year and would be good to infuse some young and cheaper talent. If not you look to dline, and then WR as a 3rd or 4th option. Knowing though its a deep WR draft I may consider trading down getting an extra 3rd round pick if there's no one else there but WR.

We riot.

WR at 17 would be insane given they have a WR1 they just committed 20m per to and a WR2 who appears ready for Pro Bowl status.
It would be the most shocking move since taking Zeke at 4 far surpassing moving on from Watt to Taco since we were told Watt was graded as a LB in the system.

The DTs are all essentially on 1/2 year deals.

Kinlaw won't be there imho but you don't ever pass DT when he's board value.
On every level football DTs are VERY hard to find.

Pretty much. I’m in love with Riggs, honestly, but it’s only even a moderate consideration if you’d tagged Amari and are looking for insurance

I wouldnt mind it, as long as its one of the big 3 (Ruggs, Lamb, Jeudy)

1. Right now, we have nothing behind Cooper and Gallup

2. This QB needs all the help he can get on offense

3. Kinlaw has knee concerns

4. I predict the F.O will want to get out of Cooper’s contract after year 2. A receiver here will make that ALOT easier decision if he underperforms

If they are following their board then it's cool. Main thing is to not reach at any position. I'd prefer we go defense but if the best player is receiver so be it. They typically have 20 or so 1st round grades on prospects so it depends on who is left with those grades, should be 3-5 guys available. If both players are about equal in grades it gets tricky as you then consider who you can still get in the later rounds who is also good. We've done a good job of doing that and still aquiring talent throught the draft.

I don't disagree with drafting a WR in later rounds but it would be nice to have a prolific WR in early rounds 2-3. MM love WR in the 2nd so I don't expect that to change.

Why isn’t this in the gigantic WR draft thread?
Some of us don't want to wade through 629 pages on each individual subject. We prefer the condensed threads on the various nuances that relate to it.

Kinlaw could be a difference maker on the DL. If he is there, they have to take him. Jeudy and Lamb might be very good WRs but I don't think they will every make the impact Kinlaw will. In fact, I believe Ruggs will make more of an impact on offense than Lamb or Jeudy. Not because he will put up better stats. Ruggs will never be a #1 receiver who puts up a lot of big numbers. But what he will do is change the way defenses play the Cowboys. Zeke will see fewer stacked boxes. Cooper will see fewer double teams. Dak will have targets underneath all day. Ruggs will get his deep balls and crossing routes and will burn defenses like that, but even when he doesn't get the ball he will make a difference.

I don;t think Ruggs or Kinlaw will be around at 17. But if not, they can take Henderson or Chaisson.

I prefer to build the defensive line, however, if a guy like CeeDee Lamb or Jeudy was there and the took one of them, I sure wouldn't be disappointed.

I think if one of the big 3 receivers are there then that needs to be the pick. Id like the draft to fall into a place where the cowboys could trade down and get an additional pick in round 2. I also wouldnt be opposed to Mims being that pick later than 17.

If we could get Mims and a corner later that wouldnt be a bad haul. of course Id prefer Ruggs and a corner. I also think there will be DE available

… ill answer this ,

if that happens then garett/marinelli was never the issue, its Jerry, stpehen ,or will ..

Its obvious to ALL that the defense is First so you tke the BPA Defense stud left on your board at 17 unless all 3 of those from DT, DE, S, or CB are gone and then a WR , maybe..but if they pick a WR over a Defender even if its a tie on BPA,

MM has zero control nd theres going to be the same old Star issues weve always had..

get the Defenders in rounds 1+2 round 3 you draft a slot speedy WR to replace cobb..that how this draft must go..

MM is an offensive guy, so you never know. Most of the moves we've made to add players are on the defensive side of the ball, so he could feel he's already improved the defense.

Now, I don't believe that's the case, but just because we go offense, I also don't believe it would be an indication that McCarthy didn't want the pick or even push for it.

Cowboys #1 pick should be CJ Henderson if we are lucky enough he is on the board. Maybe Kristian Fulton if CJ isn't.

Corner is not only a need for this year but biggest future need. Awuzie & Lewis are both free agents next year. What is the odds we can resign them both?

If CeeDee Lamb is some how sitting there at 17, I don’t see the Cowboys passing on that kind of value. Highly productive college WRs have a way higher chance of being good in the NFL than a DLineman. With the moves that the Cowboys made in the offseason on the DLine I really don’t know if they are even considering drafting a DLineman in the first 2 rounds.

as long as it’s a top wr, it won’t be horrible.
