Dak's contract situation will eventually be resolved, but the Boys would be wise to add Winston to the roster as a valuable insurance policy against injury or an extended holdout.

This would represent a win-win situation for the team and player. Something Rush & Thorson can't provide having only a combined three passing attempts of regular season experience.

idk about winston but i do find it weird & annoying that jerry and the front office does not seem to put any value in the back up qb position when they think of themself as a contender. (idc what anyone says about cooper rush or how he look in practice or w/e...if he has to play in anything but garbage time the season is over). backup qb can make or break the entire season for a "contender"...u need some one who is capable of winning games and keeping the season afloat if ur starter gets hurt!

Winston has his flaws but he's better than most backups. The same probably could be said about Cam Newton.

My guess is the only reason these guys aren't signed is they are still looking to start and aren't willing to settle for being a backup...both in terms of role with a team and money paid.

So, while I would love for Winston to be the back-up, my guess is that Winston isn't ready to settle for that just yet.

Assumptions assumptions.

They make *******s out of you and me.

So..

I don't assume at all Rush can't play nor that he can't play well.

His first season he looked very competitive.

His next year everybody expected this huge improvement but like many players do, they have that sophomore jinx.

Now, the fact that McCarthy must have looked at him and approved his contract has to mean something is right.

Winston would be too expensive to sign. Plus I do not think he would come here unless Big Mike was going to open competition at QB.

That has not been discussed.

So until we see what's what..

we wait and consider the possibilities.

Hey, be nice. Or your approximation of nice. --from the Wolverine origins movie.

I thought that was being nice?

I had Winston pegged during the draft that year when he was taken. Plenty of talent, but way too big of a head and not enough smarts. The guy just doesnt understand how to play the position and be a leader. He has pretty much turned out EXACTLY how I thought he would. A guy like that is the LAST guy you want backing up or even being your QB. There is NO hope.

With a backup you want a guy that can manage the game and win it for you. Not piss it away and lose it for you.

I would not either.

Settle that is.

It's still early.

Why would Winston want to sign in Dallas? To back up Dak? What is he going to learn from Dak thar increases his value and gives him a chance to start next year?

Did you know that is a female that you said, "now go put on the dunce cap on and go sit in the corner" too?

Blogging the boys ran a story about Winston being the right fit for Dallas.

Yah, didnt even read that one. Needless to say, I wouldnt agree with it.

This team needs a talented young backup QB grooming behind Dak.

no one wants to touch jamies Winston...he sucks. he is in his fifth year and he cant read a defense and still makes bad throws....and no its not because of his eyes, its because defenses easily fool him with their coverages...he is a failed experiment and he has ZERO leaderships skills....I will stop watching the cowboys if they sign Winston if they intend to replace Dak with Winston....ewww...

Lol. That he does. But I highly doubt what we have now is any better. Can only imagine starting the season off with our new coaching staff and Rush at center because Dak is holding out. That's a disaster waiting to happen.
really!!! you don't think Dak is better.... seriously dude, can I have some of what you smokin….and drinking, and pills you are takin.....all at once

Hey, I like Thorson. lol

Winston might want too much. Any one know his asking price?
I imagine he is going to expect 20m on a one year deal while he just sits and waits for somewhere to start next year.

Pretty pricey for a backup to a QB who has missed 2 games in 8 years of college and pro football
