Rather have Simmons than Adams

With all the speculation and y’all of breaking the bank for Adams, I’d prefer to break the bank and move up to snag Isaiah Simmons (if possible). It would essentially be akin to drafting and grooming our own Darren Woodson 2.0. What do you all think?
It comes down to compensation to me. Trading for Adams you lose years of contract, but you gain a 1st team All Pro. With Simmons you get 5 years of contract control, but you get less of a sure thing. I think purely as a Safety, Adams is a good comp for Simmons.

I will Simmons would likely be the better target. The Jets wanted pretty significant compensation for him. I don't think a move up for Simmons would cost that much. A 17 and a 2nd is most likely. Thats what we have up to move fron 14 to 6 for Mo. We may have to throw in a 4th or 2021 3rd

Tip of the hat for a good discussion on the subject

Did I say they would? If you wouldn't trade #17 for Adams, YOU ARE LOST!
They won't trade 17 for Adams.
Get over it.
I wouldnt either because I'm not stupid.
Last year was the time to trade for him and the Cowboys aren't sweetening the deal.
If they only offered a second round pick last year they aren't offering a first this year.

First, going up for Simmons would be most likely more expensive than Adams.

Adams is a definite, and I realize it sounds crazy right now, but Simmons, along with every other player picked tonight...is a maybe.

When theres a tweener situation, and Simmons is every bit of that, I'd rather ask him to add size and move closer to the LOS than ask him to add speed and move further away. One is possible, the other kind of isnt.

This guy will probably do well because there are so many nickel bases now, but you need to create a role for him to excel. He could be a complete bust in the wrong situation.

Your 100% wrong and it’s idiotic to not want a top 3 safety in the NFL for a mid round pick that might not even be a starter. The reason why this trade won’t go through is cause the jets won’t part with him for just number 17. That’s the sole reason the cowboys haven’t made the deal yet

Could absolutely see Dallas going up to get Simmons if he falls to 10 or later. Be nice if we could just sit at 17 and have him fall to us.

I agree. I love Adams, but if it’s 1st + massive contract vs 1st + 2nd and rookie contract for five years, I’d prefer Simmons. If the Giants go OT, I’d start making calls. I don’t think he makes it past the jags tho

It would cost Dallas almost all their draft picks to move up behind the Giants. You would do that for a Safety?

I think either him or Derrick Brown can fall to the 8-10 area. The Cards, Jets, Browns need offensive line help badly. It's the Panthers and Jags that might take them.

I think the switch would have to be with the Cards to get either Brown or Simmons.

ehhh. No. Wouldn’t trade all that, it’s with the presumption that several teams are looking to move down so perhaps would be easier to move up. Also take issue with your dismissive “for a safety”.
But the ultimate answer is no. Just spitballing

To trade into the top 10? Most likely. They're switching their top 10 pick for your 17th. You have to make up for that. What would you want?
Well I’m actually speaking on a good scenario where Simmons dropped because he has no true position as of yet. Most teams in the top 10 need QB WR Dlinemen or Oline. Safety doesn’t seem to be high priority until after 10. But who knows?

I believe he’d be a perfect SS. Have you seen his 4.39 40 time??? He wouldn’t need to add speed under any circumstances.

I agree @keysersoze

If I'm shipping picks for a safety, it's for Simmons. Probably cost less too pick wise.
Dude is just oozing athletic ability and he was a damn good player at Clemson.
Unreal at what positions he played at in college.

I would even double dip and take Muse day 3 too.
I concur

Sorry, did not mean to sound dismissive there.

I'm not trading a first round pick for Adams or trading up for Simmons.
Have to agree. I would trade for Adams if he was on a contract I liked for the next few years but not to pay him. Simmons is just a bridge too far. Would love to be in a position to go up for him but we are simply too far from his range and we don't have extra picks this year to leverage.

The 40 time doesnt surprise me because he is an elite athlete.

I think he will struggle as far as coverage quickness and adjustments against NFL WR if at the third line of defense consistently.

I think he's a linebacker. He will drop sometimes, he will rush sometimes, and if in the right situation could be a special player. I don't think Dallas is that place.

Just my opinion.

Very moot because its cost prohibitive to get the guy.
