I am not shocked he's still here.

I think it's a mistake he's still here with that cap hit. Especially if they have an opportunity to bring in a real RDE like Griffen.
But they clearly don’t like Griffin......well I shouldn’t say that but I’d assume since McCarthy was in the division with him for years he’d have a good eye on him.

Here's a bizarre question.

Are they keeping Crawford at his base salary because they need to hit the cash floor this year? I seem to recall there was a minimum cash spending average of 89% from 2017-2020. Was that changed with the new CBA? And I don't think the penalty was all that harsh anyway for not meeting the average 89%.

Unless they plan on spending that 8 milly this year...
It still comes off the books next year.

Is everything you say wrong?

1. You can rollover salary cap into the next year
2. Reducing an existing players salary is a form of restructure. It serves a different purpose to what we did with Romo but it's still a restructured contract because.....the structure is different.

Defensive coach George Edwards knows him like nobody else.

Restructure... look that up again.
Reduction is not a restructure.

I know there is a rollover, but if his salary comes off next year, it's the same, no?

I'm talking about not wasting $8 million this year. Just like I talked about not wasting $10 million last year.

Do you think they got good return on investment then?
He was hurt last year.

For the record I think he’s gonna have a tough time making this roster. It depends what type of training camp they have. If they aren’t allowed to have it like they usually do? I see a minimal amount of turnover. If they have a training camp like they usually do? I think McCarthy is going go with youth and hunger over a veteran who’s not much better.

There is no salary for 2021. He's not under contract. He never WAS on next year's books.
So rollover and let it play out is the same for 2021, cap wise unless you want that money and don't want the player NOW?

So like I said... unless they are willing to pay that money to someone else, the rollover and the contract ending is the same capwise for that year.

What was all about this Never stuff?

He was hurt last year.

Fact is that's he was "hurt" the year BEFORE. And he couldn't do anything during most of the offseason, because of the hip issues. The same issues that cost him most of 2019. Anyone with eyes saw it coming. But not the Cowboys. And they got burned.

For the record I think he’s gonna have a tough time making this roster. It depends what type of training camp they have. If they aren’t allowed to have it like they usually do? I hope so.

If we cut Crawford and don't sign anyone else. The 8m he would earn this year is rolled over into next season.

No, not the same at all. I'm shocked you're struggling with this.
