Dallas should rescind the franchise tag and let Dak walk

Lol, you amuse me.

I don't mind Dak as our QB, just not at the pricetag he is asking. I don't agree that his skillset is equivalent to what he is asking. At 25 million a year I'd take Dak all day. What I find extremely humorous is that if you don't agree with me on this topic, I'm also a total fool on every aspect having to do with football. The kind of argument a typical young teenager would make when they let their emotions get the best of them.

If you notice I said "Some of these "Cowboys fans" have become obsessed with what is now known as Dak-hate". If you're not one of the obsessed dudes posting new anti-Dak threads multiple times per day then congrats you're not who I'm referring to. The problem you just created for yourself is you think Dak should be paid less than Jacoby Brisset, Derek Carr, Matt Stafford, Ryan Tannehill, Jared Goff and Jimmy G to name a few which is mind boggling to say the least.

And I would forego the continued attempts at a long term deal and let his agent know the 31.5M this year is all they're guaranteeing for this season and they will revisit the longer term option after this season.

The critical part of this is getting him to sign the tag and get started on this new offense. McC announced it would be a new offense which was different from what he said at first and this has already changed twice. It is imperative that they get him in the same book and on the same pages with McC and Moore. Not to mention they got him a bright shiny new WR to play with and they'll need some reps.

This situation with the season up in the air is not putting a lot of heat on this right now but once they have firm plans, if he hesitates to sign and get to work for 31.5M, he's going to have a lot of fans jump that Good Ship Prescott. He has no good reason to hold out any further, they used the good tag on him and that even got sweeter since they put that into effect.

The problem with that plan is the Cowboys are the party looking for a longer contract. The last thing they want is him playing on the tag.

He's not holding out, by the way. They have until July 15th to either work out an extension or sign the tender. We may not like it from a new coach standpoint, but it is what it is.

When I think of adults and fanhood, they don't jive really well and a fully grown man in a worship jersey for a player is hardly adult. I think many have a somewhat reversion back to their younger years when it comes to their sports teams. And for that, they can certainly be given some latitude.

I don't need alcohol to post here but to actually read a lot of the posts here, yeah, it helps.

The anonymity of an online post board brings out the immaturity, stupidity and ignorance in adults. They don’t take this seriously they’re just here to talk smack and have fun.

Yep, it is. However, the position of Dallas Cowboys QB is the single most image conscious position in the NFL. If this was not a situation with a new HC and a new offense, it might be viewed as different but that's not the case. He will don a black hat if he doesn't show up at the right time for 31.5M and they're such weak negotiators that they play into the agents' camp and lose any leverage.

And while we're all happy about that first pick, what message did that send to the tagged QB? Look what we did to help you, not necessarily the team, but you and your stats. I can argue they made the passing offense better but what does that accomplish? It was already a top 2 passing offense.

The agent knows what every agent knows that deals with the Cowboys and a star player, bide their time, wait it out because they will crater, they always do. And they will this time too.

Very well stated. This says all you need to know about the situation.

Dak's lack of effort vs the Eagles last season with the NFC East title at stake tells you all you need to know.
I wish the guy was better and had not been coddled the way he was.
I'd really like to think that the Cowboys finally were ready to move on.
But he's just not that good.
Dak’s still got the exact flaws he had in college. It’s not going to change. What you see is what you get. The problem on this board is the homers can’t see it. They’re blinded by those fantasy-garbage time numbers.

Charlie Brown sings Andy Williams' classic The Impossible Dream

1*nQ7bM0AMfqJ35FFriVkENQ.jpeg

To dream the impossible dream (Getting rid of Prescott)
To fight the unbeatable foe (Reality)
To bear with unbearable sorrow (NOT getting rid of Prescott)
To run where the brave dare not go (Fantasy Island)

To right the unrightable wrong (Not getting my way)
To love pure and chaste from afar (Not far enough)
To try when your arms are too weary (Or tired fingers pecking a keyboard)
To reach the unreachable star (At the top of AT&T Stadium)

This is my quest (And threads and posts)
To follow that star (Light years away)
No matter how hopeless (Or demoralizing)
No matter how far. (But not as far away as CowboysZone)
love it

OK, now what? Trade for Dalton or Newton?

The die is cast and he will be just like Romo, having his detractors as well. It's not the Cowboys if we can't argue about the QB.

Don't confuse how a player goes about his business as having anything to do with being a leader or a teammate.
Let’s face it. Until the Cowboys win a Super Bowl and Dak is the Super Bowl MVP there will be people hating on him.

To be perfectly honest, he would like have to do it twice

And screw it, let’s be completely and utterly honest. He would likely need to do it three times in a row, with NFC Championship losses bookending it where despite him going for 400 yds, 4 TDS and 0 picks, the defense collapsed and gave up 600 yards of opposing offense and 40+ points.

Maybe, just maybe, 99% of his detractors would come around.

There’s always that 1% who are filled with hate in their heart who will never support him.

you sure like to pick losers....I guess you relate to them in real life, so you stick to them...for you it seems like emotional attachment..... I understand life has been hard. being sued. losing everything. losing your wife and then jail and in the middle of all of it dealing with alcoholism....it doesn't seem fair, but you can't point fingers. you can't blame anyone. its choices we make and tomorrow is not written. you can bounce back. its a matter of will and want. put the past behind you and walk a straight path....find solace in God as many do. anger, festering jealousy are not the solution and I think you know that better than anybody else. try and make amends, reach out to your son and daughter and ask for forgiveness and start the healing process.

Dak hasn't shown the maturity to lead the Cowboys on the field or off.
He needs to see what life is like behind the offensive line of one of the other 31 teams and what it's like to actually have to produce in order to keep his job.
This haggling over his contract because he thinks he should be paid like he's the best is making me sick to my stomach to watch.
He doesn't produce when the team needs him to lead, and apparently feels as if he is special even though he choked through the entire 2019 season.
It's time to end this privileged mentality instilled by Garrett once and for all.

There are inherent reasons that I will not address here that a certain % isn't going to like him regardless of what he does.

Dak definitely has things to work on, but this ongoing narrative that he was 2nd in the NFL in passing yards, and 4th in passing TDs based entirely on "garbage time" is garbage in itself. There were some games like that, just as early in the year there were some games they pulled back on the passing game to run the clock on the ground. There were also very competitive games where Dak put up big numbers. There was a mix of different types of games.

Besides, it's not as if other QBs don't get credit for their garbage time too.

The biggest dopes on this board are adults. There’s at least a couple I’ve encountered that list their ages. Alcohol and sitting behind a monitor can bring out the stupidity in a lot of people. Some don’t even need alcohol.
I'd say sometimes a drink or two helps get through some of the stuff!

Hmmm....I'd say that is a pretty big assumption...and dangerous ground. False accusations are worse than the accusation.

This about sums it up....and 80% of the people spend way too much time with only one side or the other.

(Okay...I made that stat up in my head ....but you know what I mean!)

That's the problem in a nutshell with a lot of the posting - too many only allow themselves to see one side or the other, and truth almost always lies somewhere in the middle. Some allow themselves to only see the extremes of whatever side they are on.
