I think that I like Anae more than most people do. I really think he’s going to be a good player.
His combine 40 time doesn’t really worry me. He wins with power, leverage, good technique, handwork and relentlessness. And he’s a dawg.

I liked him in the 3rd... I loved him in the 5th.

He seems to be someone that you'd just want to root for and I love the attitude he seems to bring to the game.

I'm not sure if he'll ever be a full time edge rusher for us as that's a lot to ask of an end of the 5th round player but would be thrilled if it happens.

I can't wait to see him get with Tomsula to continue to work on his technique.

I wonder if he's going to stick with #51 or see about switching to #58 that he was showing as his twitter profile pic. Was tempted to pick up his jersey.

He has an above average 10 yard split which is much more important than a 40 time for a DL.
Exactly, plus he is just savage in his tackling and sacking technique. This guy is violent finisher who has done nothing but produce over the last 3 years. How did a 30 sacks guy drop so far. I wouldn't be surprised to see him out perform Chaisson this year.

Actually identical to Lawrence's. Thats what makes Lawrence on the left side. Most LDE's dont have nearly that bust of the snap.

Anae had a bad three cone, which is probably drill for pass rushers. That more than his 40 probably dropped his stock. Even a bad 3 cone doesnr really kill you, it might just mean you are more of a wide gap rusher

Its also worth noting that Yannick Ngakoue's 3 cone was equally as bad. I didnt prevent him fron being a franchise tag worthy 7 Tech. Ngakoue could be a good comp for Anae

Lawrence
Gregory
Smith
Armstrong
Anae
Crawford

That sounds solid and projecting...
Can we add Jackson and Jelks just to be silly?

Dont forget about Carter and Marino.

Someone from this group will surprise.

13 sacks last year. I'm curious why he lasted til the 5th round. I was hoping they'd talk about him on The Break but they didn't get that deep into the draft.

I was down on the pick at first because he ran 4.9. The I remembered D-law ran 4.80 while weighing 251. Lawrence weighs 266 now, so I'm certain he's a 4.9 guy himself at this point.
Anae's no slower than Lawrence. HOPefully he has technique and a high motor.

Quick first step, good speed for ten yards. His technique is very advanced for someone coming out of college. His motor runs very fast. He plays with grit and anger.

I think his lack of top end speed and overall athleticism is why he will not be a Demarcus Ware, but those other tools will allow him to be 8-12 sack guy that plays the run well, a lot like Demarcus Lawrence.

Before the combine, most draft guides had him as 2nd or 3rd rounder based on film and production.
If you want to be excited about this guy, watch the senior bowl. He dominated guys that got drafted.

Good thread. Terrell Suggs ran 4.84. Not saying he's on that type of trajectory, but just disproving the notion that players can't succeed if they have a slow 40 time.

By all accounts I've read, his pass rushing techniques are awesome.

He'll have a 12 year career here never failing to reach double digits sacks in a season and he'll retire second on the Cowboys all time sacks list behind Dorance Armstrong.

Who's Dorance Armstrong?

Unfortunately there is no measurement for getting off and defeating blockers. The good news is that the QB usually isn't 40 yards away.
