Personally, this is shocking to me since they gave Jarwin a fairly hefty extension and brought in Blake Bell.

Also odd since right now the candidates for RDE are Crawford, a player who has been out for 4 years, a player who has been out for a year and a 5th round rookie.

I’d put it 3rd. Safety and DE are my biggest concerns right now. We need a strong front line to dominant games IMO. Takeaways are big, but if you can’t force the QB to make pressured decisions like that from your DE’s, you won’t be getting many turnovers in the first place.

TE is a concern, but if your WR’s are good and you got a good RB, it shouldn’t be too big of a concern, hence why I’m not that concerned. Jarwin is fine as if right now, but I’d like to see us draft a TE next year.

I posted this in another thread, This is complete nonsense, Cowboys feel like they have their guy.

The Dallas Cowboys signed tight end Blake Jarwin, a key player in their offense, to a four-year deal Monday that can be worth $24.25 million, with $9.25 million in guarantees.

Looking to lock him up long term, the deal not only keeps Jarwin in Dallas until 2023 but cements him as the long term No. 1 option at the position, after spending most of his career backing up soon-to-be Hall-of-Famer Jason Witten.

The Cowboys had originally intended to use a second-round tender on the 25-year-old, but opted to sign the extension instead, and secure their future at the position.

Formerly an undrafted free agent, Jarwin has shown flashes of brilliance in his short career, starting 11 games, and hauling in 58 catches on 77 targets for 672 yards and six scores in the last two seasons.

Jarwin also holds a 75-percent catch percentage and has proven to be a reliable target for quarterback Dak Prescott

I agree. I know Archer is usually reliable but it’s hard for me to believe they give Jarwin that extension if they don’t think he’s the guy.

You mean RDE correct?

I'd say the following:

1. Safety - who's going to actually be the SS?
2. RDE - all depends on whether Gregory or Smith are actually reinstated or not. Also, how will Anae or Carter contribute?
3. TE - although I think we're in a better position than last year it's still a huge unknown.
4. P - Jones needs competition especially considering how much he counts against the salary cap this season.

What's it going to be then, eh?

Considering how we have aggressively attacked other positions, I understand.

I am not yet sold on Jarwin as a real threat. We might have got a little fool's gold on his limited opportunities.

Blake Bell seems more like a TE3 than a 2.

We are stuck a little.

But the way I see it, we will run a ton of 11 personnel.

The TE is automatically the fourth option given the talent we have at WR.

Blake "the Belldozer" Bell is the blocker we have needed for a few years now. Jarwin is the pass catcher the team seemed to have thought Witten was last year when it was really Jarwin all along we should have been playing more. For a team that is going to play a **** ton of 3 WR sets methinks TE is just fine but we just have to rotate them on pass vs run downs a little without being too obvious. We could use an upgrade to Schultz though. He just doesn't do anything well enough to earn snaps IMO.

The 'They' that Archer is referring to are the ESPN people, not the Cowboys themselves.

Well crap. I don’t have ESPN Insider so I didn’t try to read the article and I misunderstood what Archer meant. That’s on me. Wish I could edit my subject title.
