I would have placed the “Non-Exclusive” Franchise Tag on Dak and told him “We really like you a lot but go shop for the best deal you can find”. After every other team told him “25 a year is the absolute best we can do for a very very good BUS DRIVER”, I’d have signed him for 26-28 and called it a Day. This kinda money is getting ridiculous for a guy that needs a loaded team around him to even have a chance at reaching a Super Bowl.

Dak will sign or JJ will rescind the tag. That’s how this ends. Dak and his agent will probably cave and sign. One more year of the wannabe NFL QB and MMs rebuild will continue. I see another SB in 3 years. I just hope the slobbers don’t take it personal. This has to be done. JJ’s not getting any younger and he wants one more before he kicks the bucket.
They won't rescind the tag unless he's a no show and the season has started.

He's never intimated anything publicly about the tag, I've not seen one verifiable remark that he doesn't plan to sign it and show up. I've seen some posters say that but they don't have any sources to back that up.

He and his agent aren't walking away from 31.4M to play QB for one year and make the endorsement $ on top of that. He played through his contract year and he'll play on this tag.

However, since the Joneses have yet to prove they can win just one stare down with a player, I think they'll crater like they always do and give him the deal his agent wants. And since they've made this so public against CAA, no way they cut the Joneses any slack. There's their rep and lots more $ to be made with this deal.

If only they had you as a negotiator. I'm sure you would have got the deal done, lol.

It will be a holiday on CowboysZone the day Jones and Prescott agree on a new contract.

A holiday of horror.

I would have done the same and let the market set the price but I think they were afraid he'd no show. The Joneses seldom work from a position of strength. The agents have the book on them.

Do it. As others have said it will be funny money by then. When you think about it Mahomes will have his deal, Wilson will probably have a new deal, Watson will be on a new deal, the young guys drafted this year will be signing new deals, so many QBs will come up for deals imagine 45 will like 35 does now. I wouldn't be surprised if Mahomes is c lose to 50 when Dak gets his 45.

Makes sense. His team wants a 4 year deal. They insist on a 5 year deal so they ask for a outrageous number like 45. Just give him the 4 year deal and get this over with.

That 45 number is for them to agree to a 4 year deal.

:clap::clap:kinda like the guy who doesn't really wanna sell his corvette but if you stupid enough pay him 200K, sold.

No, they have been too open and that's not exemplary, that's stupid. Like this latest play of releasing this to Fisher. They're too incompetent to realize they're trying to put a black hat on that Cowboy.

Do you know the negotiations of any other player in the NFL? Any sport? That's because they keep that quiet on purpose but not these morons. They just can't keep from trying to get their names in the newspapers.
Balderdash. Tank got top pay. Zack got top pay. Zeke got top pay. Cooper got top pay. Jaylon and collins were surprise signings and both received nice salaries. Stephen and jerry both spoke flatteringly of all those players. Almost every top player in the nfl has their contracts exposed until final deals are in place. That's business in today's NFL. It's absurd to think otherwise.
