then every QB contracts given out, is bad....including mahomes….

the fact that gets lost on most, its the NFL QB market.
Bingo. When it’s time for a franchise QB to get paid the agent gets a little more than the last one got. It will always be like that. If a team believes there QB is the guy then this is how you get him signed. Every once in a while a special player comes along and drives the market up big time. I think mahomes is going to shatter the ceiling for the market. But not totally sold on him. Still he is better than Dak at this point.

Or a team is just dumb and signs there player to a huge deal that drives the market up out of stupidity. Look at the rams and the gurly deal. We paid for that crap with Elliot.

Stephen got the ball rolling. The ticket and 105.3 the fan are to be tsken with a grain of salt.
My bud in DAL, an exec with ATT, gave me the skinny on that after it went down. He was pissed because they had to layoff people as this wasn't an expense line item since they hadn't entered a new fiscal.

He pretty much said the same thing they were saying and that was coming from the team, they weren't guessing, they were told Booger Jr. was the point guy for the team, which would make sense with his title.

If you want to keep thinking it was Stuphen, go right ahead, but it wasn't. His function is more operational within the team while Booger Jr and the daughter are more operational around the team.

The Cowboys are no different than any other NFL team, when it's a big decision about that much money, there's only one person on every team signing off on that, the owner. Bidwell, Brown, Davis, Mara and Rooney didn't sign off until there fathers were gone. Like Kraft's son will not as long as his father is in charge.

Why is it so difficult for you to accept Booger is still HMFIC of the Cowboys? What have you seen about him to leads you to believe he wouldn't be in charge? When things started to get better in the draft, some wanted to believe that was Stuphen, architect of the 2009 draft, and not that Booger had shifted to new voices of influence.

Good post.

I don't get the next man up theory but if it's correct surely they should have 2 "next men" 1) the first contract 2) the successful veteran.

Wilson isn't the scenario as Goff, Wentz, Prescott.

You haven't commited at all.....are you unable to think for yourself.

If the market is Wilson, then no I wouldn't pay it, just as I wouldn't pay Dak more than Mahomes if he were to sign tomorrow.

Go on give a figure not rhetoric or theory.
I gave you a clear range. Can you read?

I’m not Dak’s agent or the Cowboys GM. I know Dak’s worth near the very top of the current QB market, because that’s how markets work.

Whether that’s $32m/year or $36m/year and $95m guaranteed or $105m guaranteed, I don’t know... nor do I really care. He’s our franchise QB and you don’t let those guys walk.

You, on the other hand, can’t intelligently dispute the conclusions from the article, nor will you even attempt to. The article smashes any point you’d attempt to make about why Dak isn’t worth Wilson’s contract (or close to it).

That’s why you simply state your differing opinion with zero to back it up.

Have you looked at what I think is fair ??? I am not decrying the article and agree with it.

The conclusion puts Dak around what Goff, Went, got and called him a 6-8 QB.

Why do Dak fans get so defensive with everyone else opposes their PAY HIM WHATEVER HE DEMANDS.

And others will pay for the Prescott signing. Mahomes, Jackson and Watson will get more and maybe even Rodgers and Wilson get their deals sweetened.

Elliott's deal with affect Barkley's, already affected McCaffery's.

As long as the cap increases every year, this will continue. The agents' game is to push the position's pay and the deal France will get for Prescott will get him thank you cards from other agents.

Looked at it where? You never replied with your answer and I missed it if you said it elsewhere.

If it’s in your sig, I have sigs turned off in my settings.

Greatly improved production doesn't equal cap busting contract.
Ok, but what does that have to do with what you said? :

"
Hardline said:
The market needs a reset.
This is the time to do it.

The true market pays for production not next man up."

Dak has certainly produced greatly and improved every year. Now you want to move the goal posts and demand even more?

There will be smiles from everyone present. Todd france will not be among them.
Are agents present at player signings?

We see this "the team doesn't like dealing with agent X" all the time and I think that's a joke. They deal with lawyers all the time and understand the game.

The Joneses know France is going to make out better than 3% on the attention this deal gets. We can argue all we want about where Prescott ranks as a QB but damned few would say he's the best QB in the game and deserving of being the highest paid. You get that for your player and you are one serious dude.

Now, the smart ones know this isn't about France being better or smarter than other agents, it is more about the opposition but image and perception is money is pro sports.

I agree with Spotrac's market evaluation - $33.9 for 5 years seems fair
