And two are available right now. Clowney and Jamal Adams would really raise the talent on defense. Clowney , Aldon Smith, and Gregory would be a great rotation at RDE and Lawrence, Crawford, and Armstrong would be solid at LDE. I’ve felt that the back end of our defense has missed an alpha for the last couple seasons. And getting Jamal Adams would be that missing guy. He’s an excellent leader on the field , and raises the play of other around him. He’s excellent In Run support.

The only question I’d have is TE. Yes jarwin has some good potential but he’s a questionable blocker at best. If you look at the top 3 teams in the league last season they had the best TE play. KC, SF, and Baltimore were stacked and talented at TE. Their TE’s are also excellent blockers. When I studied their run game, I noticed that their TE’s were so good they were able to take on DE’s leaving extra OL to get to the 2nd level. This has been a big problem for Dallas since letting Swaim go and Hannah retiring. They were excellent 2nd level blockers! Maybe Blake Bell helps in that area ?!

if they got Clowney , Adams, and Bell/jarwin step it up, there’s no question in my mind the Cowboys would go to the Super Bowl this season.

Agree that it will be interesting to see the comp at TE in camp, maybe Schultz can step up and possibly fill a role.
Cole Hikutini
Sean McKeon
Charlie Taumoepeau.
Three others worth paying attention to.

I'm not sweating TE. It's a marginal position for us. I'd probably rather have Pollard on the field as the 5th man than Jarwin, at least outside the red zone.

Jarwin should be in rotation with Pollard, Olawale, and Devin Smith as the 5th man, depending on situation and matchups. 3WR + Zeke should be our base.

We don't have the horses at TE, but do at other positions. We don't have to play GarrettBall anymore, and crowd the field with meh TEs. As long as you're not Garrett, it's a simple calculation.

I don't see Clowney at all, if we've got Gregory, although the Gregory saga just won't end, will it?

Didn't Goodell have a deadline for a Gregory ruling at the end of *last* month? I guess it's nice to be King. Rules don't apply. What is Gregory supposed to do, complain about tardiness *before* Goodell has decided on his career?

Adams would be a nice addition for the salary, but not for the compensation the Jets want in addition.

The Jets asking for Collins is a bad ask from us. We're light at T. I don't know what we could give them. We should start with Woods, as they'll need another S presumably. But that ain't worth much.

Anything else we have an excess of? Williams? Not worth much either. A C? Seems like we have plenty in Looney, Biadasz, Redmond, and maybe McGovern.

I don't see a quality starter we could spare to the Jets. Maybe Gallup.

How about giving MMc at least a few games as HC before judging the Cowboys to be 3 players away?

For @10 seasons, Jason Garrett was always 2-3-4 or however many players away. MMc ain’t Garrett.

I'm all for being aggressive, but like with every other team in the NFL, we are also privy to losing our 3 best players and having our season go into shambles. Theres a fine line between mortgaging the future and being aggressive for a Super Bowl run, and building a roster to contend for multiple years. Its what we did when we drafted Zeke #4 overall to give Romo that push. We lost Romo that year. In 2015 we lost Romo, Dez, Scandrick among other key players throughout that season. We were top heavy in the Romo years. I feel we are trying to get away from that by having a strong foundation and more depth to sustain injuries. Thats why we haven't seen all-in types of moves recently.

No team is a player or two or three away lol. Chiefs were a heavily flawed team. Most teams are. Cowboys need to sit tight and continue to build their team the right way.
Exactly. I prefer all-in types of moves in-season when we know we have a badass roster, and have the wins to back it up. Trade for a disgruntled player on another team to supplement a star-studded team and make that playoff push. In the mean-time. Build the roster to contend for multiple years.
