When Cee Dee fell to 17 . I knew with 100% certainty he was going to be the pick. He was the 6th rated player on their draft board.
Kinlaw and Henderson were my two top realistic targets but they were off the board and I wanted Xavier McKinney over Chasson if it came down to those two.

I consider Lamb at 17 a no brainer and a miracle he fell to us.

When the pick came up and Lamb was still available I couldn't imagine he wouldn't be the pick unless a ridiculous trade opportunity came up to trade down.

However, there was a thought in the back of my mind for a split second that the Cowboys could mess the pick up, lol. Chaisson is an intriguing prospect, but is a raw talent that lacked consistent college production. Didn't love this pick idea at the time.

It was definitely a no brainer, but that doesn't mean I was confident Jerry would do the right thing. He has blown the pick many times.

I was hoping for Lamb but thought they would pick Chaisson. I was hoping the Falcons would pick Chaisson.
I think when the Falcons added Dante Fowler in Free Agency, it changed their plans.
Imo, if Atlanta was not going to take Chaisson or Lamb, they made a big mistake not trading down.
The certainly had plenty if offers....beginning with both Philly and Minnesota.

When Lamb fell to the Cowboys they had to take him. I don't like that they are paying Amari 20 mil and then spend a first round pick on Lamb but they went with the best player available.
This

I had mixed emotions.
  1. Couldn't believe that both Lamb and Chaisson fell to us.
  2. Did not think at all we needed to spend a 1st or even 2nd on a WR...with that deep class and Cooper/Gallup already starting
  3. But Lamb was too good of a prospect to pass up.

I was 70-30 they would take Lamb with Chaisson the 30. But that 30 was enough for me to sweat it.

They took BPA....at least assumed BPA .

Well know how this plays out for real in a couple of years.

I would've been fine either player, but totally get why decided not to make CeeDee our passover Lamb.

Vote or die

I'm not clear is this means wanted or just expected.

Hope:
- I had hoped that Javon Kinlaw would fall to #17.

Never Expected:
- I was shocked that Lamb was available. I still can't believe it.

Expected:
- The most likely scenario appeared to be K'Lavon Chaisson.
- I tried to convince myself to like Chaisson but I just couldn't get comfortable wanting him to be the pick.

Hope Alternate:
- I preferred Diggs at #17 over Chaisson or even better a trade down and then Diggs.
- Hopefully Diggs after the 1st turns out like 2003 when I wanted them to trade back into the late 1st to draft Jason Witten.
- Side note: The only time I've ever been as certain that a draft pick would be a great player as I was with Witten was when Tim Duncan was drafted in the NBA.
