LOL don't be so obtuse. Read the tea leaves. The 5th year option is what you slap on players you have no intention of signing long term. Thus the trade request. If they wanted him they would have offered him a long term deal. That is what you do for people you want.
The Cowboys exercised their 5th year option on Zeke. The Eagles did with Wentz. It gives the team another year of control at a lower price. It does not mean the team doesn’t want a longer term deal.

Bell and Jarwin with compliment each other and be solid rotation and dont forget we have some we just brought in at the bottom of the roster that could surprise at 3rd TE..id rather not waste resources on another TE who has so far been a disappointment post draft..

WE NEED MORE DEPTH ON DEFENSE , offesne is set and stacked really

Sure, lets throw out some bait and see if they bite. If not we roll with Jarwin. ALSO depends on what his contract situation is. Im not breaking the bank for a TE when I got 3 stud wrs and TP, Zeke.

We didn't hear about new deals for jaylon or la'el until they happened. All the noise at the time was dak.

What does that have to do with if the Cowboys were interested in trading for ANY player that all Jones has to do is pick up the phone and call that team and negotiate a trade. Or people here playing scout/GM and skowering the internet for players they think the Cowboys should trade for and think because they found them that the Cowboys should be and are interested in those players.

Rather than the second coming of Jason Witten, I would prefer the second coming of Jay Novacek.

As much as I respect Jason Witten and his productivity, Novacek's receptions were far more meaningful in their timeliness. During the big games, in the most critical moments, Jay was there for that tough catch to get the 1st down. Witten may have been the better all purpose TE with his blocking ability and physical toughness, but Novacek was by far the better receiver due to his athleticism. He was an all state basketball player as well as in football, he competed in the Decathlon on an Olympic level, he was a competition level rodeo horse cutter. He sometimes lined up as a receiver.

As far as Njoku, I've read that the Browns are asking for a 1st round pick but they are highballing, they may go as low as a 3rd eventually. Still, I wouldn't go higher than a 4th. Considering our scouting department's success, that would be giving up a contributor.

When Njoku returned from the injury list the coaching staff was reportedly not satisfied with his effort or blocking. He was a healthy scratch twice. For some reason, they are distancing themselves from a recent 1st round draft pick in favor of others including this year's 4th round pick.

Besides, I'm intrigued with Blake Jarwin's potential as a receiving TE, he is also athletic like Novacek. Just like Novacek, if it is 3rd and 1, take Jarwin out, put in another O-lineman

He’s a solid pass catching 3rd TE. He went 1st round and has athletic upside but in the NFL he’s not done much. Jarwin at this stage is a better player IMO.

A 5th which could become a 4th at most. There’s a decent chance he’d get cut after training camp.

Wow this could not be any more wrong. Both were extended to long term deals after only 3 years. The teams still had them under contract for a very cheap fourth year and a potential 5th year option. Even still they both got extended long term. Zeke did hold out to get his. This is what teams do when they want to keep players. It is the exact opposite of the Njoku situation.

Wow? Lol. You don’t know as much as your incredulous attitude suggests. Read these and weep.

Contrary to what you think, exercising the 5th year option does not mean a longer deal doesn’t get done. In fact, it can be precursors to it. Read the Wentz article on this point. Besides, why wouldn’t teams want that cheaper 5th year before the extension kicks in? Obviously it makes sense that they would.
