what “they” say doesn’t matter. He’s now on a 12 year 474 million dollar contract. You can’t change the math.
You guys are killing me..so you think that Dak and his camp is going to sign as if Mahomes is getting 39 million a year as opposed to the 45 million he got lol? That's not happening.

Many people don't understand how contracts really work, but that's not surprising.

Plus, because of the length, the $45MM AAV isn't really an accurate way to gauge this because there's probably a ton of funny money in the deal. So any Dak fanboi thinking Dak now deserves $40MM AAV is overshooting.
Some people don't understand win success is a team stat or how market value works. It's not what you "think" he deserves.

I'm not sure how anyone can even try and compare the two contracts when Dak doesn't have 2 years left on his deal like Mahomes does. Their deals will be completely different.

I remember him spewing the same crap a year ago, maybe longer. The truth is, if you're sold on a QB you go sign him. The longer you wait, the more the market goes up. It has more to do with what the staff considers a franchise QB, not what fans think they "know he deserves."

Hey, I don't like the trend, but that's what it is. The staff screwed themselves every time they waited.

According to who? I'm sorry, I don't agree. Time will tell, I don't see Dak getting 40 but whatever. We will see.

It is considered 10 years 450 million by both the Chiefs and Mahomes and by every agent and team that is negotiating with their QB. The same was true for Wentz, Goff, Zeke, and every other player negotiating their contract extension. The extension is what is counted by everyone not the rookie deal.

I've never seen anybody argue that on this board, since the arrival of Mahomes. It could have happened but from everything I've seen recently, everybody has pretty much been anywhere from 40 to 50 on Mahomes. I honestly don't see this changing much, with Dak, to be honest.
I had to dig for it but this guy here smh...

If Dak's agents are saying they will agree to a 5th year if the base salary is $45MM in that 5th year, that would far outstrip what any player would likely be getting in a base salary (or some combo of base salary and an annual roster bonus paid in that year).

Dak has the highest "base salary" this year at $31MM because he's been tagged. The next highest base salary? Jimmy G at $24MM. That's it. In 5 years, Mahomes' base salary probably won't even be near $45MM.

Yep, they can tag him again, but the price goes up. Or they can extend him, but it will be a fresh start, not a carry over like Mahomes. Which, they could have gotten done in year 3.

Ever think the Staff is not completely sold on DAK..... Jerry takes care of his players....but there is a reason they have not paid DAK yet

Read my post again. I didn't say AAV of $45MM. I said "base salary" of $45MM. Mahomes likely won't have base salaries of $45MM as he will have signing and roster bonuses in his contract. You understand how contracts work right? Carson Wentz signed a 4 year, $128MM extension which works out to an AAV of $32MM. However, the highest his base salary ever gets is in like 2022 when his base salary is $22MM.

Nowhere in my post did I say there would never be a $40MM QB.

I think people are assuming Dak is the dumb one here which I don't think is the case. It was confirmed that he Cowboys wanted him when they offered him a 5 year deal. Signing every 4 years if you can do it is smart business. Its risky but its smart.

He was not kidding when he said he wanted to be a Chief for life. The dude is all about team and what a great deal. Meanwhile at Dallas, well that requires lots of typing lol.
