This is one poorly run organization

Why? Because they didn't get a Dak deal done? The franchise tag isn't a bad thing for the Cowboys. I'm glad they didn't cave, Dak just walked away from 3+ years of guranteed money in exchange for 1. Sure if Dak plays well the price goes up a bit, but the market is set and if it goes from 33-35 to 35 to 37 so be it. Dak is taking a huge risk.

I don't get why some of you are so worried and obsessing over this? We just got a hell of a coach in Big Mike and I'm sure he want's to start off on the best foot possible right? There is no way it would of been a great move for Big Mike to lock Dak up before he has a chance to work with him.. If the freckled puppet was still here dak would of been signed already, so just put down the pipe and chalk it up for what it is.. This organization is finally making smart moves! If Dak and Big Mike kill it, Jerry and Stephen can figure this out later..

And for those of you that think this is going to cause a strained relationship between Dak and team it won't.. Jerry will say the right things to Dak, and Dak will come out with a ton to prove... This is a great move, and an even better one for our great coach Big Mike.

Agreed. This was a smart move!

So what's the plan moving forwards - Red Rifle and draft a QB in the first round in 2021?

Jerry screwed up but Dak is still taking a huge risk,if he gets seriously hurt his stock will plummet to the floor.

Do you think that will change the way he plays the game? Maybe instead of running for a 1st down he would ground the ball like Brady does on a busted play.

he can be traded now....
Ummmm....he is under contract and teams have their QBs. He’s not going anywhere. Which teams have the money to pay that tag? Which teams can afford to give him at least what he turned down at this point? LOL. We have a very good team with our same starting QB for 2020.

I wonder what Tyron Smith and Zack Martin are thinking busting their *** and playing through injuries on team friendly deals whilst Prescott turns down over $100 million in guaranteed money!

The O Line might start to creak sooner than some think...

People can spin it whatever way they like but this is a terrible look for Prescott. Players (team mates) and fans will have lost a lot of respect for him.

Signing a long term deal, therefore lowering his cap hit and allowing the team to bring in additional talent would be helping them get to the Super Bowl.

Sticking on the tag, in my opinion, is contradictory to what he's saying he's trying to do.

This isn't comparable to Mahomes, this would have been a new deal. The cap hit wouldn't have been that much lower. Maybe around 10 mil less the first year, but the other 3-4 years would look ugly.

I believe they fully intended to sign Dak long term which is why he got the exclusive tag, but that didn't work out. If Dak plays under a second tag, that would be contradictory to what Dallas is trying to do.

McCarthy ain't got no damn say lol.

You're fooling yourself. You still think Garrett and McCarthy are one in the same. This front office is operating differently and they're listening to a HC with an actual resume.

from an article in the DMN... (can't post the link)

jerry-jones-meddlesome-reputation-is-set-in-stone-but-mike-mccarthys-fingerprints-can-already-be-seen-on-the-cowboys/

"McCarthy will not only have more say in personnel than Jason Garrett did, he’ll have more than any Cowboys head coach since Jimmy Johnson."
