This is one poorly run organization

Why?
Because they didn’t reach a deal with Dak? Your comment seems to make it sounds like it.

or because it has been poorly ran by keeping a lame coach way too long, and other things.

wow a whiny brother, why, because he wanted a bigger slice of the Dak pie. Now he has to wait another year.
Good riddance, we never wanted or need fans like you.
He gets 31 million so his brother will be fine. He is just mad because Dak didn’t know he could have gotten a 50 million dollar signing bonus.

He's done in Dallas. Just a question of when.
I do believe after the Cowboys signed the Red Rifle they never offered Dak a contract other than the franchise tag. I really think after this year McCarthy will be picking his own QB.

A lot of confirmation bias playing out in this thread.

The Cowboys put the exclusive franchise tag on Prescott. They had already hired McCarthy at this point, so he was on board with the thinking. The thinking that the Cowboys weren’t interested in allowing other teams to offer anything to him, as they saw Prescott as their franchise guy going forward.

What happened here was nothing more complicated than both sides being firmly entrenched in their positions: the Cowboys wanted a five year agreement and Prescott wanted four. Prescott signed the tag because he wasn’t going to hold out. Neither side was willing to give in. So he’s under contract for one year - just like he was in 2019, but he will be better compensated in 2020 (provided that there is a season).

Next offseason, he will be tagged again, and there will be more kvetching and moaning by “Dak slobberers” and “anti-Dakkers”. Once there’s a direction in terms of what the future caps look like in a post-pandemic world, I think they will agree to a multi-year contract.

Chicago is a good shout. Good defense with a stale and sluggish offense...Prescott would be a perfect fit with his grinding style.

Exactly, and they need a QB. Nagy isn't too different from McCarthy in terms of coaching style either.

Its stupid to have a 4 year vs a 5 year deal as a sticking point. Idiotic.

But it is what it is.

Next year it's going to be a 3 year vs. a 4 year deal. And the merry go round keeps turning.

But I just laugh at the anti-Dakkers. They think they can phone 1-800 QB and have Patrick Mahomes drop in their laps. lol
Literally no one thinks that.

Yeah, that's why they offered him over $100 million guaranteed. I wish my employer was that "not sold" on me. :muttley:

It was all about the length but just keep on projecting. Dak is going to make a ton of money either way.

If they wanted Dak signed he’d be signed. You can try to spin it anyway you want but they chose not to get it done for a reason.

Well the tag next year is $37.4 million.

So $31 this year and $37 next year comes to $68 million and the Cowboys were offering $70 over the next 2 years on their final offer.

The difference was not enough to convince Dak to sign.

He figured he would make roughly the same amount playing on back to back tags and if the Cowboys dont tag him, he will be an unrestricted free agent and can negotiate with any team in the league. Only real risk Dak is taking is injury, like an Alex Smith type.

Stephen and Jerry Jones...please take a bow

Congrats guys. Best decision they have made in recent Cowboy history.

No way bak for Dak - you don't bite the hand that feeds.

He will regret this.

When he has a bad year, and other teams will be hesitant. He will regret this and be out the league or be a backup to a team in about 2-4 years.

They will be talking about this for ages. How he could of had over 30 Mil but wanted to play hardball.

I dont know why many here are so disappointed that Dak was not signed long term. Last season for him was a failure other than 4900 yds. He couldnt lead the team to victory against any good teams. It was only fitting that he played awful against the Eagles team playing scrubs. I dont think Dak wants to be here anyways. We should be thankful he didnt sign those earlier offers by Jerry. Dak wants a monster payday than he is going to have to go win a SB and he doesnt have the talent for that.

Boom - Get in there! YES

Only one more year max before we move on from that bum. Things are looking up...oh yes BABY!!!!!!!!
Great. Then we go 3-13 for the next 2 or 3 years because we can't find a qb and we also have to listen to the haters biotch about it.
