It means whatever fits someone's narrative.

*Cowboys offer Dak $100 million guaranteed*

*Dak turns it down*
*Translation: the Cowboys weren't sold on him*

It also means these football wizards are going to be looking for another QB soon. I'm sure they'll nail it this time. :muttley:

He never talked about daks skills, or accomplishments, or abilitys as a qb.
To this guy it is all about math, and dak is like mini mahomes lol.
He lost me when he said dak was going to want 45 mil a year.

he also isnt taking into account the current situation with nfl etc .
So if there is a next year, teams are not going to be able or want to pay dak more than he was offered here.

On average, the last 10 Super Bowl-winning quarterbacks have accounted for 8.4 percent of a team's salary cap, according to overthecap.com. but our guy wants more.

Dak never deserved a huge deal in the first place. What means more, competing for championships or winning the regular season statistics contest? Seems Dak wanted to be paid purely on his garbage stats alone.

This pandemic is going to be here this year and in some form next year

There will not be an NFL season this year which will mean no revenue

Unless we get a vaccine there may be no season or limited season next year with no or few fans which means much much less revenue

all this means that Dak has lost his chance to really get paid in the near future

Good listen, I agree that both sides botched the F out of this.

Like Jeff says, the math doesn't lie. If Dak wants to milk every penny he can get it will be on the open market. Dallas is not going to pay him top dollar.

This is a Kurt Cousins 2.0 situation...….two tags then unrestricted free agency.

And Cousins has become one of the more unpopular players with fans in the league, now Dak is flying down that road. We offered a fair contract and as we found out it was never about team, or winning, it was always about money

Hopefully, McCarthy is a better QB evaluator than The Clapper.
Eazy to place blame when it was Jerrah who wanted paxton lynch to begin with. How wood that have worked out?

and zeke and dlaw did the same thing but a lot of peeple still love the ewok, I doubt Dak is too concerned about it as long as he gets paid.

Yeah.

I get Dak's desire to maximize his contract. What I don't get is his desire to squeeze every single cent he can out of the team at the expense of just about everything else: staying in Dallas, his image as a good guy, flexibility for the team to put talent around him, etc. Had he signed the deal he was reportedly offered before last season he'd have banked a big signing bonus, played for a hell of a lot more than the $2m he made and have the security of knowing he was gonna be the most visible athlete in the world for at least the next five years--and then hit the market at the same time as the four-years he's insisted on since would have allowed him to. He could've been talking to his new coach and learning the new playbook, looking forward to playing without the constant figment looming of the contract crap coming again next season. But he didn't do that, or sign any of the richer contracts the team has offered him since then either.

He's evidently gotten what he wants though, to be Kirk Cousins. He'll hit the open market in a couple of years. He'll sign a big contract, somewhere, maybe. But that depends on a lot of unknowns at a time when there's more instability in the world than any of us have ever seen. He could have had a big money contract. He could have had stability. He could have guaranteed he'd remain a Cowboy, reaping everything that comes with being QB1 in Dallas for the foreseeable future. But evidently none of that is what's important to him. It appears what's important to Dak is that he sign the biggest deal possible and then be able do it again as soon as he can, wherever that may be, and that's certainly his prerogative but I don't get it.

Has the team been stupid, not sealing the deal way before now? Without a doubt. But I think Dak has really dropped the ball on this thing too.

the ides of march have come and gone. it's now a moot topic. meaningless. he's our qb for 2020. imo, negotiations will be easier next year. he understands the pie now. this is not an extinction level event.
