Staffords time in Detroit is probably coming to an end. There were some rumblings his time there was over earlier this off-season. I think due to cap implications the team decided to hang onto him for another season.

Obviously I'm speculating, but I think 2020 is Staffords last year in Detroit. Matt is a Texas kid and I think the perfect solution for both sides is for Stafford to take over the qb job here in Dallas. This offensive line, these weapons, MM has to know him really well, I think the fit is really really good. This team is in win now mode and you are getting a super talented qb who has experience. What do you guys think?

Premature, but very forward looking. If Dak is not the answer after this season, we will need a veteran QB, or two, as our roster is ready to win now, and not groom a young QB for a few years.

Hoping Dak is the answer after the season, though. Switching QBs isn't always the great time we think it will be. See post Aikman era...until Romo.

Very much like Stafford. But dont think we wont have to pay top dollar for him.

Any ranking I have seen, including mine has Dak in front of Stafford.

I think Stafford stinks...ok he’s not terrible but he isn’t winning anything...might as well ride with Dalton and swing hard for someone in the draft.

I think they are around the same tier. Id take Dak over Stafford. I do think Stafford would out perform his usual production in Dallas

I think Stafford would do great here. I have Stafford a better pure passer with Dak being the better leader/clutch/dual threat.

Dalton will command over 30 million. Maybe his experience would come to the forefront here if he didn't have to do everything.

Sky is the limit with Garrett gone.

we would need both vet and journeymen/rook learning because 2 years is about all you want out of a Stafford type.. he a lot like Romo so i say Yes IF things dont work out with Dak..Ironic trade dak for a high draft pic t Detroit with Stafford attached in the deal for 2021?

Matthew Stafford.....another player who has a "beautiful arm" but has done NOTHING in this league. What is the fascination of going after guys other teams don't want?

Other teams don't want? What kind of stupid statement is this? He's played his entire career for one team..which teams don't want him? You have no idea bc your statement is baseless

Stafford has absolutely nothing around him. Comparing the two is not easy. Stafford w these weapons and MM, and you might have something special

In your scenario did you NOT just say you don't think Lions would retain Stafford? And you are asking me why they don't want him? I don't know hell you are the one who brought this up I personally thought the Lions would keep him.

Great idea. We'll sign stafford and lions will sign dak. Dak is better than stafford but ok lol

There might be some truth to this. But do you know why you can't keep dak? Bc he's too expensive..so great post...way to think things through, genius

I am a genius. Ive already moved on. Theres no way dak is our qb after 2021 unless dak really wants to be here. Front office botched the negotiations 2 offseasons in a row

Let's check out Matthew Stafford's scouting report from a beat writer........

Cons
  • Could improve optimization of YAC when targeting receivers in the short/intermediate middle, as he often requires them to adjust in front or behind
  • Doesn’t consistently deliver the ball out in front on out-breaking routes in short/intermediate areas
  • Will get lackadaisical with ball placement on RB/TE screens
  • Locks onto targets running 9-routes when he reads one-high pre-snap and makes predetermined throws
  • Stares down his first read when he gets man coverage or a favorable matchup, which impedes his ability to get through his progressions
  • Ability to extend plays within structure is below average due to iffy feel of peripheral pressure to begin stepping up into pocket
  • Play strength to resist arm tackles and ankle grabs leaves something to be desired
  • Did not hang onto the ball well in 2017
  • Decision making is questionable – attempts high-difficulty throws, consistently targets tight coverage, is overaggressive in the red zone, targets screens/flat routes on bootlegs that will inevitably go for negative yardage
  • Appetite for the big play causes him to see red when he has a post on against middle-field-open coverages
  • Aggression heightens exponentially on 2nd/3rd & Long
  • Ball placement on RB/TE screens is inconsistent

The same things y'all criticize Dak for is the same crap Stafford does if I'm to believe this scouting report on him. :lmao2:

So now y'al want a older version of Dak who couldn't take advantage of having Megatron in his prime.

OK..so what is the point of bringing up dak then? You need to find a replacement..

I never said cheap..I think 30m is probably the number..dal offered dak 35..so I'm sure they'd pay stafford 30-35 as well
