Wow, I find it hard to believe that Smith has been okayed to continue to play football. I personally sustained an injury close to what Smith's injury was and I ended up getting my leg broke the first time I was hit. It was really disheartening because it took me numerous surgeries, a year and a half in a cast and another year and a half in a full metal leg brace before I could walk again. I like Alex Smith and I want to see him succeed, but I have this bad feeling he's being setup to fail. Those are BIG BOYS in the NFL and they're out looking to create damage on every play.

I'm reminded of Jeff Goldblum from Jurassic Park. "You were so concerned if you could, that you never asked if you should."

I've got nothing but respect for Alex Smith, the dude has dealt with no shortage of adversity in the NFL and always toughed it though. Patrick Mahomes wanting to give him a Super Bowl ring speaks volumes. After Mahomes walked off the field a Super Bowl MVP and gave KC its first title in 50 years, the absolute last person anyone was thinking about was Alex Smith, and Mahomes thanked him anyway. If Smith comes back from a shattered leg to play another game, it'd be the ultimate capper, the biggest challenge Smith has overcome in a career full of them.

But really - Alex Smith is in his late 30s. He doesn't have much football ahead of him, but he's got plenty of life still to go. Don't go out and risk your health even more for a garbage fire Washington team that doesn't take care of its players.

Modern medicine is amazing.
It was an ugly injury to see happen. After reading the description of the injury, I thought Ok, he'll probably walk again but...

always hate to see injuries happen, even to rival players. hope he can get on the field in any capacity

People want to think all injuries are just alike but they aren't. You have special insight into your injury and that is appreciated, but you have no clue about his.

Alex Smith is a good QB but will never be great, Just good.

It's about time. He went thru hell. Trent Williams, too. I wouldn't trust washington football team doctors.

Lets see if it is censored lol.

About Alex, I know it was a bad broken leg, but that is all, and if he can now walk, and even run ok, he should get into broadcasting or something.
Does he want the big money? QB salarys have gotten very high, but may go back down.
The only other reason is wanting a SB ring, but I dont think I would be risking a re-injury for either of those things.

As a player, he could feel like he is good to go, but so did Romo and he re-injured his collarbone after only 2 games in 2015.
I think most teams would also feel he is high risk to re-injure, so would not want to give a big salary, or big guarantee.
he could get a contract with big incentives though which if he can manage to not get hurt again, could make the big money.

So to him I say ....dont do it man! but if u do good luck!

I have a great respect for Smith. Living in the Bay Area I watched him get drafted by the 49ers #1 overall and play like an absolute scrub. The dude could have called it a wrap and rode off into the sunset with his millions. He was the NFL’s version of Sam Bowie and Jordan; the 49ers infamously drafted him over local boy Aaron Rodgers.

Instead, he transformed himself into the best version of what he could be and resurrected his career. He’s not a hall of famer but he’s put together a very respectable career.
